If federalism worked as it's supposed to it would be a good idea. Unfortunately, the federal government recognizes no limits to it's powers, no cap to it's desire to redistribute wealth, and has relegated the Bill of Rights to the ash heap. I think NYC should be given to Cuba or Quebec. They have shown time and time again by their overwhelming support of leftist tyrants like Hitlery and upChuckie that don't deserve to be in the USA. I think that most NYC dwellers would be happier in Cuba where they'd have no rights at all.

I say make NYC It's own Nation, then surround it with barbed wire and CBP checkpoints.
Picking the new ambassador would be fun.

the aim is to create Blue City State SenatorsIt would be a wash because the upstate Senators would be red.

Except for Ithaca, upstate New York is quite Republican. Making NYC a state would add two Republican senators.

It would be far more difficult, to my thinking, for a representative to logroll when a much larger number of voters are needed to pass that pork through. Far more trading would have to be involved. The smaller the number of legislators, the easier the logrolling (see Byrd, Robert).
But we don't disagree as to the problem of pork. Just tactics regarding how we solve it.

NY/Long Island would make a good state. They would keep their two Donk Senators, and there would be two new Republican Senators from Upstate. Of course, that would mean that Hillary! would have to move from Chappaqua to Massapequa, so I guess the whole deal is off. Nothing that would inconvenience Hillary! is desirable or permitted.

LI elected Carolyn McCarthy, a rabid gun and freedom hater, by large majority based solely on her campaign to do away with the 2nd Amendment rights of the rest of the country. If this doesn't give you a hint as to how they'd go I'm not sure what would.

What a cool idea.....isolate the leftist whackjobs! I think this approach could also work for SF, Seattle, Portland, and other blue state strongholds!Careful what you wish for.
What are they up to?
What are the implications?

Our problems with that infestation of blue cockroaches could be solved with that vote. How exactly? The only practical difference I can see is giving those mutants two new senators.

They need to become a US Territory, but not a state.

Well on the plus side in order to enter the Union they'd have to agree to abide by the constitution.

LI elected Carolyn McCarthy, a rabid gun and freedom hater, by large majority based solely on her campaign to do away with the 2nd Amendment rights of the rest of the country. At the time, she claimed that she wasnt a one issue person. That she cared about all the other issues besides the gun issue (not that I believed her)
The very first time she ran, she claimed to have been a Republican and the reason she was running on the Democrat ticket instead of the Republican ticket was for one reason: The gun issue. She didnt like the Republican stance on the guns issue. She agreed with the Republicans on all other issues except that one. A couple weeks later I saw her on tv giving another speech about how the big bad Republicans wanted to cut and destroy medicare and social security, etc. A whole lot of hot air using words and catchphrases that were right out of the old DNC handbook of propaganda.

Transparant attempt by liberals to gain two more Democratic Senators. Not necessarily. While the NYC ones would be democrat, the remainder of the state might switch w/o the NYC vote.
Chicago should do the same. With 30% of the vote in Illinois, whoever wins Chicago, wins Illinois.
