COACHELLA - Two undocumented immigrants were hijacked from one group of smugglers by another group of immigrant smugglers at a truck stop near Coachella on Monday, authorities said.

"It's very common," said Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Jorge Pinon. "They learn about a group of illegal immigrants and take them for ransom."

The location and condition of the undocumented immigrants remained unknown late Monday, Pinon said.

Rodrigo Peña / The Press-Enterprise Deputies search a minivan that was reported stolen. They found the abandoned van about six miles from where it was taken.

Deputies learned about the hijacked immigrants only after receiving a 911 call that a burgundy Dodge Caravan had been stolen at gunpoint by three men about 2:15 p.m. from the Travel Centers of America TA truck stop on Dillon Road near Interstate 10, Pinon said.

The man who made the report said his cousin was still inside the minivan when it was taken, Pinon said.

Deputies found the abandoned van about six miles east of the truck stop on the I-10 shoulder. The man who was described as the cousin was found unharmed nearby, Pinon said.

After an unsuccessful search over the hilly desert terrain for the carjackers involving about two dozen law enforcement officers, a helicopter, an airplane and a canine team, Pinon said they questioned the cousin and the man who had made the carjacking report again, revealing inconsistencies in their stories.

He said further questioning revealed that the men had been transporting two undocumented immigrants from Mexico to Los Angeles and had stopped for gas when they were held up at the truck stop by rival smugglers.

The rival group took the van with the immigrants inside and abandoned it a short time later, only to jump into another vehicle and drive away, Pinon said.

Pinon said the two men who were initially transporting the immigrants would be arrested on suspicion of filing a false police report and on weapons violations because police discovered a handgun in the van.

The creeping corruption continues unabated. We either stop it at this point or get mowed over before we find all our neighbors and associates asking us why we "don't get with the program".

I feel like that guy yelling about the Pod People.

Try: Illegal Immigrants

In the 1950s there used to notices posted in the US Post Office branches:
"Aliens must register"IIRC it was every spring.

All legal immigrants had to register each year as to their whereabouts. That was back when we had all immigration under control. When immigrants were allowed in here to help us, not them exploit us.

Ironically, I have to go to sleep now. Everything will be all better when I wake. I will believe diversity is our strength, multiculturalism will lead to a stronger union with our world brothers and, by gosh, Hillary Clinton might be the President we need to see everyone is on the same footing.

Seriously, the illegal immigration problem is falling into the hands of Hillary and her minions because of Republican's lack of courage to deal with it. What other issue would make the Administration consider tackling what's been traditionally considered the "Third Rail" (Social Security revisement) over it and considers dealing with what prior administrations shunned to be a cakewalk in comparison? Yet something compels our leaders to walk the plank toward some form of amnesty plan despite our country possessing every KNOWN advantage over Mexico. Why is this?

This is just the tip of the iceberg. ICE agents were involved in a shootout Jan 6 just south of that area with illegal alien smugglers.

Curious, indeed. Equally puzzling is the absolute belligerent disdain towards dissenters within the rank-and-file and/or so-called conservative "club". Wonder if I can get a refund on my RNC donations? Refund on this stupid gold card?

Don't lose heart yet - the reform movement is growing in the House and embarasses the Senate by doing so. Be the wolf in the sheeple herd that won't stop snarling (if nothing else it helps vent frustration while you know you've done something).

This service is great and costs you nothing to use:

Thanks. I am already on their email alert list.

Ron Paul didn't vote on this... I wonder why?
He sure seems to be on the right side of the issue: Amnesty and Culture and from CCN article:

Fortunately, there is a solution to save our decades of hard earned Social Security benefits for Americans. H.R. 489, the Social Security for Americans Only Act of 2003, introduced by Representative Ron Paul (R-TX), and several cosponsors. "As the system braces for a steep increase in those who will be drawing from the Social Security trust fund, it make no sense to expand it into a global welfare system," said Representative Paul. We agree.

So... why didn't he vote on the bill linked at Numbers???

Beats me, seeing as he's the bills primary sponsor.
