She also appeared with Danny Kaye in "The Kid From Brooklyn," "A Song Is Born" and "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty."

She was gorgeous.

Actually, I'm in my early 40s, but as a fan of the classics, I knew exactly who she was. (Anyone who can watch "The Best Years of Our Lives" without a tear in their eye is a pillar of strength.)

I'm only 19, but I've seen all those Bob Hope and Danny Kaye movies over and over. There the best.
Rest in Peace Virginia.

I just watched 'Best Years of Our Lives' the other night. What a great movie!
Virginia Mayo was a great actress from the true glory years of Hollywood.
May God bless her soul and may she rest in peace.

Heh, heh, heh... half-raising my hand. Born in '49, saw some of her flicks in the late 50s and early 60s. Very nice.

RIP.

I was just a little kid when I saw The Best Years of Our Lives, and it was an old movie then, but I was ga-ga over gorgeous Virginia Mayo (I liked her better than goody-goody Peggy Ann Gardner even if she was bad), and I really wanted to grow up to be like Dana Andrews--almost as much as I wanted to be like Tarzan.

I saw princess & the pirate as a Kid - and fell in love with her. And she was great in Best Years of Our lives.

I'm sorry she's gone. Father time gets us all in the end.

I do not know why you say that she was "one of my own," but rest assured that you need not weep for her, only for those left behind who will miss her until they are reunited.

It is NOT a cliche. She has gone on to a better place and a place that all of us are bound for.

How could anyone not fall in love with Teresa Wright?!

I tell you Al Stephenson (Frederick March) was one lucky guy. Married to Myrna Loy with Teresa Wright as a daughter.

Interesting poster. There, right next to the drawn image of the buxom and beautiful Mayo are the phrases: "Relentless heat! Savage nights! 500 desperate men! ....caged up with one woman!"

Yeah, they knew how to market movies back then.
In fact, it was probably more honest than the way they do it today.

I do not know why you say that she was "one of my own"

I think he meant 84-year-old women.
