Cat Frozen To Fence Saved By Woman, Grandkids

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Here is proof that cats really have nine lives.

One cold morning while in the backyard of a Nebraska homeowner Ruth Bogenreif, a cat was taking a drink out of a heated bird bath. Something apparently startled the cat and she jumped, wet paws and all, onto a chain link fence.

In freezing temperatures, the cats small feet froze instantly to the metal.

"He was hanging with his paws froze to the fence. His head, the back of his neck, was in the water," said Bogenreif.

Using warm water, Bogenreif and her grandchildren freed the cat from the metal and then turned it over to the local shelter.

"She's not walking well on her right leg, we're assuming muscle paralysis at this point. Hopefully she'll be getting better as the swelling goes down," said Pam Wiese with the Humane Society.

Sometimes, though, you don't have ammonia immediately available and you have to go with the next best thing...

"Isn't that good for jellyfish stings too?"

Yeah, but the scent also attracts sharks....

Poor kitty. I'm glad someone was there to get the cat to a vet.

"You know, if this kind of thing occurrs, and there's no warm water handy, there is an alternative way to get hands etc. unstuck..."

LOL, Owl Eagle. Ranks a rot. Now that visual will be stuck in my head all day. Maybe there are even pervs that roam the streets on bitter-cold days, at the ready, to *rescue* "The Frozen." LOL.

I think one of the funniest of those home video clips I've seen was the one where the kid got his tongue stuck to an ice tray in the freezer!!

He later claimed he'd been reaching in to get out some ice cream and had his tongue sort of hanging out ~ when it accidently bumped against the ice tray it froze instantly and he was stuck there.

Apparently he was babysitting his younger siblings and he got one of them to bring a phone to him so he could call for help. With his tongue frozen to the ice tray he could not articulate what his problem was in a way that could be understood and the 911 operator thought it was a crank call. The more excited he got the harder it was to understand what he was saying.

I'm not sure who got out the video camera but someone filmed him with his head stuck in the freezer, tongue securely adhered to the ice tray before he was finally rescued. I'm sure it was painful but it was one of the stupidest (and funniest) predicaments I've ever seen a kid stuck in.

The first dog I obedience trained was a beagle. She took 2nd in the class.
One of the "Sit-Stay" exercises had all the dogs in a line with a bowl of Alpo in front.
The trainer and owners all left the room for five minutes.
When we returned the dogs were still in line and the food was untouched.

Awww, poor cat.
Too bad it wasn't an electric fence.

P.S. I'm glad the the sweet little kitty is OK. Thank God she was rescued.

OK. I just had another thought. To those of you who have seen the movie "Joe Dirt," remember when a certain part of Brandy's hound dog got stuck to the front porch? OMG. Thankfully, Joe came to the rescue. LOL.

Whoever wrote that headline needs to head back to grade school. A woman and her grandkids saved a fence?

Well, we're talking about a cat, and I'd use that method on a cat even if it wasn't stuck.

You can also do that if you get a foot full of sea urchin spines.

I wonder if those dogs belong to a K-9 unit. They look alike.
