"What other groups do? And that are concentrated in NJ?"
One severed head does not require a group or concentration of groups.
I for one will not be even slightly surprised if this is an Islam-related incident, but I will wait and see. We don't need any new incidents to condemn Islamic radicalism; there are plenty of others we already know about.
But serial killers have committed similar crimes.
I would be surprised if it does not turn out to be one of these two. I am just saying, let's get all the facts.

On the other hand, I have nothing good to say about what The Watchtower can do (and has done) to people. I believe a lot of very well meaning people are believers in it, but what the organization can do is frightening. (Those who question too much can be in big trouble..."Off to the cornfield" can be quite literal.)Yes, I've known some and seen some very sad family situations. Children being "disowned" for attending a high school dance and such. Dated one who had issues, but that was exceptionally "short term". That was the extent of my association with them.

Please get back to us if you hear anything on the "grapevine" about this very unusual suicide/homicide.
I mean, who could even think up that way to kill oneself?

I mean, who could even think up that way to kill oneself? It's not an unheard-of method. In answer to your question, it's generally males who do it, and I would venture that it's those people who want to die and not just make a parasuicidal gesture.

Interesting.
I know suicidal people are not rational, but this method has the risk of not doing a complete job, and having the suicidal person ending up in a pvs. Or injuring/killing innocent bystanders when the car goes out of control.

I know suicidal people are not rational, Some aren't, but this isn't a correct generalization.
...but this method has the risk of not doing a complete job...
Actually, the head comes off much more easily than you might imagine. One of the reasons skilled executioners were so highly valued is that the wrong drop would end up ripping the head off hanged convicts, which is unpleasant for onlookers. Once a table was devised, with drop heights based on weight, it was much less common, but with the vehicle, it's rather a moot point of "complete job"...it's more likely something else would go wrong. Or, as you said, kill innocents.
Surprising to many people is how "personal" methods are to suicidal people. They aren't interchangeable, and what is abhorrent to one person might be the preferred method of another.
