I'm not familiar with this story, but I fail to see how a police officer's justified shooting of a criminal could be thought of as "tragic."

Mapes got the award , but Dan Rather certainly deserves it also.
Mapes was a POS allright, but certainly Rather is worse.

You're right, of coure. Of late, I hear that he has backtracked from his Rathergate apology, and now says he has nothing to apologize for. Have you heard thge same thing, or did I get the story wrong?
