Only 10 years? Damn. He deserved the full 17 he could've gotten. Rat bastard traitorous scum shamed men in uniform, shamed the United States and probably bread a 100,000 new terrorists with his wreckless perversion. As a corrections officer in private life this sumbitch knew better.

"You know what? It really serves you and FR ill,to talk about things you have less than no knowledge of."

Since I didn't know, I ASKED. There is NO crime in that and a NORMAL thing to do - ASK QUESTIONS!

"The troops do not deserve a handful of stupid jerks to cause their lives to be more in danger,"

No, it's better that their lives are in more danger because we won't use our air power and Naval power to CRUSH the enemy, prefering instead to take prisoners and conduct urban warfare in Fallujah instead of erasing it from the map like we should have done 9 months ago.

The guy you're so willing to defend was a corrections officer in his civilian occupation! He, of all people, knew better.

Agreed, but 10 years is more than I expected. He's gonna have a rough time of it I think. Hope he tries to stack his cellmates into a naked pyramid. LOL

Fraternizing with someone of a lower rank and knocking her up,ignoring superior officers' orders, punching a prisoner in the head,so hard that said prisoner left a bloody smear down a wall and was unconscious for a long time afterwards, and much else, which you and some others here are either totally ignorant of,or don't care about.

we all know he had to go down because our Prez and everyone else in the govt don't have the guts to stand up to the media BS

Exactly. This guy and a few others will be the scapegoats.

I'm waiting to see how much prison time General Karpinski gets, considering it was her watch and her command. I'd bet zero. But the 'grunts' will pay heavily with prison time.

Asan Akbar's trial is due to start in April of this year; a delay was granted to the defense.

Kerry is above the law.

Just ask the GOP controlled Senate
and
Right Wing Main Stream Media

Graner got what he deserved.

Hanoi Kerry still goes unpunished.

Just goes to show what money can buy.

"Ten years for abusing terrorists?"

What's wrong with this picture?

If these people were let loose how long do you think it would take them to capture their captors and behead them and this soldier gets 10 freakin' years for making a TERRORIST wear panties on his head, again, I ask, what's wrong with this picture????? Once again, terrorists win - Americans lose.

I agree John Kerry does not belong in the Senate, however he isn't there illegally. He never was a sworn enemy to the United States. This is the kind of rhetoric that gets Free Republic labeled "right-wing extremists."

All political. Nothing more. He deserved some punishment, but so did his superiors for letting it happen or telling him to make it happen. Ten years is a bit much. Fall guy.

I NEVER talk about things I know little to nothing about. It is a shame and a disgrace that so many here do and pretend that they are "expert" in the topics ton boot.

The abject stupidity, now seen on display all the time here now,is mind boggling and disheartening.

I'm with you, Tx. I'm glad that Graner has been punished, but not because I feel bad for the Iraqi prisoners. Those inmates were bad people, period. I'd rather have 100 Graners loose in my neighborhood than a single inmate from that wing of the prison.

But that's not the point. Graner and his fool cohorts handed our enemies the world over a stunning propaganda victory; a Tet Offensive without the offensive. The message MUST be sent to the rank and file that this kind of thing will get you crucified. If not, each new event will arm our enemies with new ammunition. It does us no good to win militarily if we keep giving up ground politically and morally.

It's a PR war now. It sucks, but we can very easily lose this war on perception alone.

Huh? It is better that our troops are more in danger?

I don't agree with your logic. I saw one of the Fox "generals" that just came back from Iraq the other day, say that Fallujah is now the most safe city in Iraq!!!

That wasn't a good accomplishment---the citizens of Fallujah are coming up to the marines and thanking them for cleaning up the town, and now rebuilding what was destroyed.
Maybe it wasn't flattened liked you want, but what if this was a better way to do it?
