The Old Lion Roars - (Teddy "Walrus" Kennedy, on what Dems need to do, to start winning again!)
GULF1.COM ^ | JANUARY 15, 2005 | DR. M. SIDNEY WALLACE

Posted on 01/15/2005 1:39:06 PM PST by CHARLITE

On Tuesday, Senator Kennedy spoke words straight from the heart of the new Democrats Party. He spoke with passion and true convictions just as Senator Robert Byrd had done a half a century earlier at numerous KKK rallies. He said, Neo-Democrats need to start talking about their lack of values and ideals and not let George Bush and the Republicans lead the way with their morals and principles.

Senator Kennedy is absolutely correct.

Neo-Democrats need to stand up and tell everyone where they stand. They need to stress the fact that the New-Democrat Party has no morals or principals to inhibit their objectives. They need to stress how much the United States will gain by being known as a nation where:

A Christian God has out lived his usefulness.

The Constitution of the United States is a document that has long out lived its time and the nation should have forward thinking lawmakers on the court benches and not representatives of the people in Congress making the laws.

Neo-Democrats and the governmental bureaucracy knows what is best for individuals and therefore should not be disputed in their plans and policies.

Public schools should teach very young children, even Pre-K, about sex and condoms so that they will be ready when the moment pops up.

Homosexuality should be eagerly encouraged and supported in every household.

Sex between any two or more individuals should be eagerly accepted throughout our society, no matter the individual's age, relationship, or mental condition.

The nation's educational institutions should teach conformity and harmony at all cost. Individuals that do not conform to governmental ideals should be criticized, ridiculed and in some way penalized until they start thinking correctly.

Only science that conforms to a no industrial growth philosophy in the United States should be accepted. Archaic laws of chemistry and physics that do not support the party's agenda should be discarded.

The United States should disband its armed forces so that other nations will not feel threatened. The people of the United States need to learn to accept small temper tantrums like 9/11 because after all the United States' moral superiority is what is causing them.

The United States should share each individual's earnings with the "leaders" of third world countries like North Korea, Sudan, Iran, Rwanda and France.

The United States needs to stop investigating and criticizing the United Nations. After all, it is the only place left where creative financing can be accomplished without intervention.

The citizens of the United States realize that raising income taxes on the upper class (those earning in excess of $12,000 each year) is the only option left.

While Senator Kennedy did not specifically mention his one true ideal for the future, one could see deep into his soul and know what he really wanted was for General Motors to bring back the "Oldsmobile." However with enough installed floatation devices to allow future models to be able to traverse rivers and streams with out sinking.

It did my heart good to hear at least one Neo-Democrat willing to stand up for his non-values. The rest of the party should eagerly stand behind the senator with the fortitude of his non-values. It is truly hoped that he continued to feel the same way when he dried out and woke up on Wednesday.

What they need to start winning again? Step One: Vote out Ted and Hillary. I'm not kidding, they are the symbols of what's wrong with the party, and with them out of the senate they will already be on the way to moderating their image.

Every time that fat drunk opens his mouth, I always think that Mary Jo Kopechne should awarded a posthumous medal. If she hadn't been killed teddy would have been elected president and he would have been worse that carter and clinton combined. So you could say, she gave her life to save the country.

Never thought of it in that way. Thanks for the education.

From what I have read and heard Teddy would really have been worthless as President. He is a total follower. Don't need that in the White House.

I did a long study, some years ago, of the Chappaquidick incident. I spent most of a whole year reading everything that had been written on the subject, including the inquest that followed the tragedy.

What I learned from the best, most knowledgeable source was startling.

Kennedy was stopped, by a deputy sheriff, briefly that night as he neared the turn-off from the paved road onto the dirt road leading to the bridge which he intended to cross on his way to the more remote and "private" outer beach area.

The short conversation with the deputy made him extremely nervous because he was worried about a styrofoam cooler which was "fully stocked" with "adult beverages" and clearly visible on the ledge at the rear window. (Another witness had been behind the Kennedy Oldsmobile and reported having seen the cooler quite plainly.)

The sheriff, probably in deference to the fact that it was - after all - Ted Kennedy who was operating the Olds, didn't question or search the cooler.

The cooler, however, had everything to do with what happened next which led to the accident and Mary Jo's death by suffocation - not by drowning.

Kennedy turned down the dirt road toward the bridge, but once he was at the point of driving across the bridge, he saw the headlights of a vehicle which had just turned off of the main road and onto the dirt road. The vehicle was coming toward him. He panicked, thinking that this must be the sheriff following him, possibly wanting to inquire about the contents of the cooler up on the rear ledge at the window.

The reality is that the vehicle was driven by a friend of Kennedy's who obviously knew before he and Mary Jo had left the cottage, what their destination was. The guy was coming to tell him what time the last ferry was leaving for Edgartown. . . . but Ted Kennedy didn't know that. It was pitch dark. He thought that it was the sheriff, so he quickly jumped out of the car, told Mary Jo to "drive the car over the bridge while I hide the cooler in the beach grass....."

Mary Jo, who was petite (and who had been drinking throughout the evening also), slid over to the driver's seat and gunned the big Olds forward. Time was of the essence. She didn't have time to adjust the seat from Ted's much taller position to where she could manage such a "tank" of a car. She could barely reach the pedals. She reacted to Ted's frantic, urgent command. The Olds bolted forward, and up onto the bridge, veering sideways and to the right, off of the ramp and into the water. It's that simple. That's how it happened.

Ted Kennedy was not driving. He wasn't even in the car. It was his friend, who by that time was on the scene, who made many attempts at diving in an effort to rescue Mary Jo, while (in his own words, transcribed at the inquest), "Ted was lying on the bridge moaning about why this had to happen to HIM!"

That's the story.

The conclusion is that if only his "helpful" friend hadn't followed him that night, with the simple intention of letting Ted know when the last ferry was scheduled to depart for Edgartown, there would have been no accident, no scandal. It would have been just another "night at the beach" for one of the Kennedy men.

Since there WAS a tragic event, however, and since the coroner's report was conclusive that there was little or no water in Mary Jo's lungs, she died slowly over several hours, due to diminishing oxygen, as she had made her way up to the only small pocket of air at the back of the car where previously the cooler had been placed, then removed in haste by Ted as she drove forward and into the water.

Conclusion: A tow truck could have been summoned, and would have been at the scene within minutes. Mary Jo would have been wet, but alive, and the place name "Chappaquidick" would not have become world famous. Incidentally, no cooler was found in the car, once it was finally pulled up onto the dry shore the next morning.

The incident was a "tragedy of errors," one after another.

In any event, Mary Jo Kopechne cannot be reached for comment.
