The BIG difference between MA and TX; is the in MA you are expected to vacate your home if a robber intrudes. This runs counter to every fiber of my being. A felon enters my home, and by law I'm required to flee; to let the felon take/destroy my possessions!!

Now, if the felon were foolish enough to do this to a politican's home, the results would be far different; but the part that irritates me the most is that I can order a pizza and have it at my door in 30 minutes or less; the same can not be said for most police jurisdictions. And the pizza guy doesn't have lights, sirens and an over-sized engine with free gasoline.

You're 100% right (I like your sense of humor, too :)

IIRC, MA passed a law a few years ago specifically legislating that occupants have a right to "stand their ground" in a home invasion. (Retreat is no longer required...)

BTW, here in God's Country (Texas) anyone who trespasses on your property (not just entering your house) is in deep (apply your own term here...)

No longer! (Please, it's awful enough here without misinformation! :-) )

That was the law for a brief period years ago. Amazingly enough, the "Castle Law" was enacted during PeeWee Dukakis' reign!

If I recall correctly, Mass.Ch 131 General Laws, "Limitations on the Use of Deadly force":

"It shall be a defense that the shooter was in his own home..."

Funny, but disgusting and alarming too.
