Brochure has map of events, parade route, subway stations, station closings, listing of events and closest stations to those events, etc.
Some important information and helpful tips from the Metro brochure... Metro will open at 5 a.m. and close at 3 a.m. Last train times vary by station. Please check last train times posted at the station you will use after the event.
Archives-Navy Mem’l-Penn Quarter and Smithsonian stations will be closed until after the parade (5–6 p.m.).
For your convenience, you may buy a One Day Pass for $6.50 from a Passes/Farecards machine in any Metro station. Metro staff also will sell a commemorative One Day Pass at selected stations.
Parking will be free at Metro-operated parking facilities.
Metrobuses traveling through downtown D.C. will be rerouted because of the Inaugural Parade and other events. We suggest you take Metrorail to travel to the parade and to other points in downtown D.C.
Special bus-to-rail transfers will be available on Metrobuses traveling in downtown D.C. that will allow you to complete your trip on Metrorail for free. Show the special transfer to the station manager when you enter and exit the station.

I rode the Metro to the first FR Inaugural Ball # 1.....met a crowd of very happy Texans, we all carried on while the alfalfa-eating liberal butt-wipes gave us looks that could kill.....

Your post reminds me of my chance meeting on one of the typical DC tour buses with GWB's next door neighbor down Crawford, Texas way (on that very rainy pre Inaugural friday night in 2001)...
A particular grandmother, daughter and children were taking in the sites... after some small talk I asked if they planned on touring the White House... I relayed how we were going to get in line at the Park Service bldg. between 14th and 15th st., at 4am Sunday, in order to secure some tickets to the White House... the lady replied that she would wait until she got invited over to the Bush's in Crawford for a BBQ... that's when we got around to asking her about details...
her and her husband were worried whether they would still be able to hunt on their ground, being that the fella next door was who he was... once checked out by the secret service, it was no problem...

The road closure zones that start at 7 pm on the 19th, plus the one-way streets, mean that people who insist on driving to the Freeper meals on the 19th and 20th should go to a map website well in advance to plan their routes.
One trail of rice (good for the 20th) is to plan to enter DC by taking the Key Bridge from Rosslyn VA into Georgetown and turn right at the T-intersection onto M Street. At 29th Street, turn left and go up to P Street to make a right. Go around Dupont Circle and turn onto southbound Massachusetts Ave. Keep on going through Scott Circle and down Massachusetts Ave. to Thomas Circle and the Freeper gathering. It's much simpler to leave DC; M Street is one-way westbound until you reenter Georgetown. Stay to the left after you cross Wisconsin Avenue and be SURE not to miss the left turn to get back over Key Bridge ((it's a long way to the next turnaround point)). On the 19th, IF security has not been imposed early, one can drive into DC down M Street in Georgetown and then veer right on Pennsylvania Avenue, then turn left on L Street and go east to Vermont or 14th Street, to turn north to Thomas Circle and the dinner.
You COULD try threading in via northern parts of DC, but most routes (especially through the areas east of Rock Creek Park) go through some of the rougher neighborhoods of DC.
The only really viable route from the southeast on the 20th is to take I-295 up from the Woodrow Wilson Bridge and then take exit 4 ((aka the 11th Street Bridge)) into DC and take the I-395 north exit. This will end at New York Avenue. Because of road closures, the best route from there is right on New York to New Jersey, then turn left and go left on P Street to Logan Circle, go around it and head south on Vermont Avenue to the Freeper events. Going back, follow the directions back to New Jersey Avenue, then veer right down 3rd Street to reach New York Avenue again where New Jersey becomes wrong-way. ((Yes, on the 19th you could just turn left on New York, go around the square in front of the convention center and veer right onto Massachusetts and go up to the hotel, IF security forces don't decide to set up the convention center security perimeters early)).
After reading all of this you may just want to give up on driving attempts and take Metro instead. But note that they may close the Mount Vernon station on the 20th...

Any advice on where & what color to switch to get to the Swearing In ceremony?
Unfortunately, we will not be able to join youse guys in the permitted areas as we have to return to hotel in College Park, change & get to the Ball early enough to setup the FreepStuff tables too!

Ditto. Also be wary of protestors - many of these groups have a history of violence. Do NOT retaliate or return a punch, b/c the media will edit the clip to make YOU look like the one who started it. Walk away and keep safe.
Late news: the Boots and Black Tie crowed raised money to keep Metro open until 3 am the night of the 19th as well as the 20th.
