Kerry, who lost the November election to President Bush, is a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and his trip to Paris closes a European and Middle East tour that included trips to Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Israel and the West Bank.
He was set to meet with Chirac just hours after talks in London with British Prime Minister Tony Blair on the prospect of peace in the Middle East.
With the Jan. 30 Iraq elections on the horizon and the election of a new Palestinian leader, Mahmoud Abbas, still fresh, Kerry made his tour at a critical time.
He told reporters in London that the impending elections in Iraq were ``one marker'' on the road to democracy, but are not the ultimate goal.
``What is critical is for all of us to focus on what happens immediately after the elections,'' he said.
In a remark sure to please Chirac, who wants to see room for a French role, Kerry added: ``I believe there needs to be a larger political reconciliation, as well as a broader involvement of other countries in decision-making in order to build a greater stability in Iraq.''

Ok, I understand that he's still a Senator, but who is Kerry to be running around the world as an apologist for us? Who, exactly, is he representing?

He's representing his EGO. He joined some Foreign relations group in Washington, thinking he can undermine the president since he didn't do enough when he was "running"if you call it that, for office.
To: BigKPM
"Who, exactly, is he representing?"
Himself.
Plus, he is still living in the fantasy world that the election was close because of him.

No joke. This is about as appropriate the another meeting he attended overseas some 30 years ago. We don't need Kerry or anyone else to meet with them about the Middle East. Their position is clear: Give Israel to the dogs to gain favor with the Muslim nuts (they want to establish more trade with them you see).

Maybe he's a little worried about all those Swift Boat Vets that would be glad to see him hung or get the electric chair for treason....self-imposed exile....
...he'll be back but he is definitely a TRAITOR and COWARD!

Kerry made his tour at a critical time. Yeah, after he lost his butt in the election. Senate is back in session, but so far John Kerry is predictably AWOL.

Your observation is spot on. He is out of the country during the entire election certification and swearing in ceremony so he protects his bony ass EGO. He is getting his EGO stroked by being with people who don't like us and by saying things they want to hear.
In other words he's being the typical democrat of the last 10 years.

I wonder if he's actually going to try and take on Hillary in 2008? I hope for purely entertainment purposes that he does.

You're so right his being AWOL was predictable. I'll bet no one here really thought sKerry was going to go and actually WORK for his paycheck (for a change). /sarc

perhaps when he said that he was running again in 2008 he meant in france
two insignificant players on the world front massaging each others egos and pretending they are important
To: BigKPM
He's taking his victory tour. His aides haven't had the heart to tell him the recount in Ohio is over and he really, really, really lost. LOL!

Kerry's solidifying the TRIAD of EVIL....DNC/Syria/France... It's in his seditious DNA, and I bet he'll be the first US high official to half talks with North Korea since Maddie Halfbright gave them the BOMB.
