[snip]First, Berger "knowingly" stuffed handwritten notes he'd made from the documents down his socks without submitting them for a required review.
Then he took original classified documents out of the archives entirely. When officials demanded their return, he said some of them had been destroyed.
Everything, he says, was "inadvertent," or the result of "sloppiness."
Among the missing documents are multiple drafts of an after-action memo by Richard Clarke reviewing al Qaeda attempts to attack America during the millennium celebration. The memo reportedly identified weaknesses so "glaring" that only "luck" prevented an attack on Clinton's watch.
Instead of being outraged, Democrats have laughed the whole thing off as "typical Sandy."
But would Clinton & Co. be laughing if, say, Condoleezza Rice had been discovered sneaking top secret documents out of the White House in her bra?
Well, some of those top Democrats now find themselves being grilled by the grand jury with more to come.
Here's hoping the feds stay vigilant on this one and hold those responsible for this outrage accountable.

Public comment by Republicans could poison the jury pool, making it difficult to get a conviction. Once the Republicans open their mouths, the democrats would be in an all-out media blitz to protect Berger and make it seem like he is being railroaded.
The silence on this as someone said earlier, is indicative that the Administration has told them to be quiet while the investigation proceeds. I notice the democrats have been quiet as well, indicating to me that THEY know he is in deep do-do.
As far as the media...what else is new? However, the good old New York Post is following this story, as is Fox News. We have also assembled quite an interesting time line on these events.
Please calm down and catch up with this story, as it is VERY interesting!
Excuse me, but your advice that Republicans should be throwing temper tantrums and making an extreme partisan spectacle of themselves when in fact the matter is in the jurisdiction of the DOJ where it is being investigated (and it's not just Berger) is counter-productive and would serve to immunize the dem gang, not hasten their facing justice.
I wondered at the time if he was actually working for a
foreign government.
Good catch .. the only one we know of, is Bruce Lindsey
"If some of the documents show how clinton messed up security during his administration, it may be that he is invloved in this. I would love to see him called before the grand jury."
But my guess is we will never know. Good ol typical Sandy shredded the docs, and there are no copies.
And Kintoon the liar before a grand jury? What a joke.
No, I'm afraid good ol typical Sandy is going to get a wrist slapping, no jail time. And Bubba wants to be in the U.N., so it will be. So sad, no law for Dems in this country.
I love our president, but he has no heart for going after these guys (like when he let the Klintoon administration trash the white house...), and maybe he has a point. How far can we let the Counrtry be divided?
We the people? Our only recourse is on election day, and at least for now, we are winning.
He didn't shred all the documents.
And they had enough information when he was confronted that he admitted taking notes during his July visits and taking them with him---something he would not have admitted if they didn't have some sort of pressure being put on him.
I'd say you can afford to be a little positive on this story--though we know from past experience not to get our hopes up too high.
And btw, wake up and smell the coffee. The grand jury was enpaneled last July. This president's DOJ IS going after these guys. I don't care for the handwringing whining based on fiction. I prefer to stick to facts.
"typical Sandy" = "typical Clinton" = "typical democrat" = "typical liberal" = "typical anti-American" = "typical criminal"
Go to jail do not pass go.
Call me cynical, but I doubt anything at all will happen to Sandy Burglar for removing docs from the NA.
Agreed with and appended.
Yeah I know. I'm just sick and tired of the Dems running our guys thru the ringer on petty B.S. For instance the Inauguration. Just need to rant once in a while to relieve the steam. Just kick me to make sure I'm payin attention. I'll come around eventually.
Behavior you and I would be imprisoned for is tolerated by the Democrats and condoned even after excess is noted by legal authorities. And they wonder why people do not believe them.

Sorry I took so long to respond, but I went to a Jet game party. (Came away with a loss and a broken toe)
Anyway, OK - let's stick to the facts. Did anyone care or investigate Andrew Cuomo after his hugh & series HUD screw up? What is going on with Fannie Mae? Raines, Gorelick, et al?
Now we have Oil for Food, Sandy Burglar, the recent CBS debacle of trying to illegally sway the U.S. presidential election, and all the rest I have failed to mention, though which are numerous.
I'm not a handwringer-whiner, rather I think a realist, just stating it as I see it. Our president chooses to take a high road rather than get down in the mud with these folks, and it seems to be paying off. We are winning elections. Perhaps the president is planning on letting history judge these apparent injustices? I dunno, but it is what it is.
BTW, Cync - I think you are a great poster, certainly more in the know than I ;)
Thanks for the reply and sorry about your toe (ouch).
I understand your point. I guess I'm really convinced (naively perhaps---time will tell), that these grand juries aren't just marking time or going through the motions.
You are not a handwringer, I see, and didn't deserve that appellation!
Just saw this thread, and it's in the same vane (sp?). I think "we" are getting a little fed up with all the apparent injustices perpetrated by the left, with seemingly little redress. In other words: "We" need a perk, no time for our side to become apathetic.

P.S. This will be the best little toe break I ever had, for it will give me/us weeks of fun against the "toe-masher".
Lib's reaction to the parties being reversed is known. Remember Fawn Hall.
