I do not know if you will accept second hand statistics and expert advice, but I will try to get the official information. My statistics came from a family member who is a practicing Clinical Social Worker with Bachelor and Master's Degrees in Social Work from Syracuse University who specializes in family counseling and trauma counseling. If you wish, I can get ahold of her and the official numbers for you.

I agree that the Pro-Life lobby has done a very poor job, both in their tactics to overturn Roe v. Wade and in counteracting the abortion lobby's tactics. Case and point, how many times have you heard someone say, "I could never get an abortion myself/I would never want my wife to have an abortion, but I'm pro-choice."

I think President Bush has the right idea. We will be far more successful if we make our immediate goal to have abortion seen as a last resort rather than a first resort. Unfortunately, the abortion lobby has made the practice seem on the same level as using birth control. (Personally, I have no problem with birth control...at least birth control defined as something that prevents pregnancy before it happens.) We must first move toward fewer abortions before we can reach none.

Honestly, I can't justify killing it, product of rape or not.

However, if the situation were to come up where the choice was keep abortions on demand legal OR allow abortions in the case of rape victims and life in danger, I would rather see the latter...because it would mean far fewer abortions. That is my reasoning. I would rather accept a partial victory than nothing at all.

In all honesty, the reason I make that statement is generally to combat the two most prominent arguments lefties give for abortion. "What if the mother was raped? What if the mother's life is in danger?" So, as a step toward the eventual goal of no abortions at all, I would accept those exceptions TEMPORARILY. I probably should have explained better initially.

Planned Parenthood makes big money doing abortions, as New Dimensions magazine proved about 14-15 years ago.
