"Word to Bush: Get Real!" That is the headline that screamed from the front page of the Los Angeles Times on June 30, 2002. That headline summed up the reaction of the liberal left toward President Bush's June 24 speech on the future of Palestine.
"I call on the Palestinian people to elect new leaders, leaders not compromised by terror. I call upon them to build a practicing democracy, based on tolerance and liberty." Thus spoke our President while the liberal left ranted apoplectically that such a plea by our President was "much too stringent, indeed impossible." The President must follow the footsteps of his predecessor, to do as Clinton had done and woo Yasser Arafat, one of the most despicable terrorists of the twentieth century.

I'd like to think of it more as a mustard seed than a grain of sand.
But I suspect no one at the LA Times would understand the difference.
That is a very good point. A shame, but a true and good point.
I prefer to think of it as a grain of sand inside an Arab swimsuit.
Sometimes I think the only solution is for all the Israelis to immigarte to the USA and let those nut jobs kill each other the land
