SHOCKING LOOK AT AILING REHNQUIST
New York Post ^ | 1/14/05 | Vincent Morris

One of the most powerful men in America, cancer-stricken Supreme Court Chief Justice William Rehnquist, looked very, very ill. I say that because I unexpectedly came face to face with the 80-year-old, wheelchair-bound Rehnquist as his aides pushed him down an endless series of basement corridors in the Capitol.

The longtime chief justice hasn't been seen in public in several months and it was clear to me why.

Were it not for Tom Daschle and the Obstructionist Democrats, Justice Rehnquist would have retired long ago. This torture by Senate Democrats is far worse than anything that happened at Abu Ghraib.

Off subject (kind of), there was a debate on CSPAN last night between Scalia and Breyer.

Just coming out of the political season, my faith in humanity was renewed, these were two highly intelligent and articualte men engaged in honest intellectual debate. While I tended to agree more with Scalia, Breyer contribution was well thought out and reasoned - and thought provoking.

--apparently, Justice Renquist still has a mind even though the body may be failing--unlike that darling of the left William Douglas whose handlers, as it were, had too keep him arms length or more from any female during his last years on the bench---

"I saw that --- it was wonderful. Justice Breyer came off very well."

Agreed. I was so uplifted to see men of different opinions that clearly respected each other debate in a civil manner. They truly were debating in search of the greater good, not personal triumph. This should get much wider viewership with our young college age students to help bring decency back to public discourse.

All too clear a reminder of what Clinton and all his politics of personal destruction punks brought upon us.
