Fox TV Accused of Stereotyping American Muslims

The Fox television network said on Thursday it will provide its stations with TV spots that portray Muslims in a favorable way after it received complaints for featuring followers of Islam as terrorists on its hit television show "24."

On Monday, Fox premiered the fourth season of "24." The drama featured an upper-middle class Muslim family operating as a sleeper terrorist cell. The Muslim mother poisons her son's non-Muslim girlfriend because it was feared the girl could jeopardize the terrorists' plan.

A Fox spokesman said it would provide public service announcements sponsored by the Council on American-Islamic Relations to its affiliate stations. Local television executives can decide if and when to use the spots.

The move was in response to the Islamic council's complaints about the show.

"What we are hoping to do is to try and mitigate the damages of the stereotypes because it can bring real-life consequences on American Muslims and their lives here," said Rabiah Ahmed, spokeswoman for the Islamic group.

Citing a public opinion survey conducted by Cornell University last year, Ahmed said television influences viewers' perceptions of Muslims.

"There aren't any positive or even neutral portrayals of Muslims on TV; whenever Muslims or Arabs are portrayed it is always in a stereotypical way," she said.

"When average Americans don't have any personal interaction with Muslims, whether it be at work or at school, they base their perception of Islam and Muslims from what they see on TV," she added. "We did bring that to Fox's attention."

They're just pi$$ed about one of the lines that the SecDef character said in the first episode. In speaking to his lib activist son, he said "Spare me your 6th grade Michael Moore logic".

Nooooo! FOX caved to terrorist supporters and cretins who make no bones about wanting to replace the US Constitution with a savage, barbaric, 7th Century Sharia (Islamic laws) that heavily favors Muslims over non-Muslims and was manifested in all its gory by the Taliban in Afghanistan.

These people make me sick with their "humiliation" and "race-baiting" caterwaling. These CAIR types don't want to admit that most forms of terrorism and Islamofascism exist and are carried out by (gasp) nutcase Muslims against non-Muslims for the gory of allah.

I don't think German Americans complained about the movies showing the Nazis as the bad guys during World War II.

The IslamoFascists ARE the Nazis of the 21st Century. They are the enemies of all humanity, busy mass murdering across the globe: innocent Buddhist Thais, Filipino Catholics, Sudanese Christians, Israeli Jews, Indian Hindus, Iranian Bahais, and about anyone else they can get their evil hands on.

How about the UN sponsored "Mickey Mouse Club" type program that airs every day on the UN paid-for Palestinian television station, where all the 7 year old boys and girls line up and sing "I want to be a Suicide Bomber...."

That might be correct in my case as I did watch the Twin Towers crash on TV. Also, the Palestinian celebrations afterward, and the US soldiers body drug thru the streets. Hey, come to think of it, the Islamofascists like to record their beheadings.
Liars and Idiots.

Doesn't Fox realize that CBS recently got in a world of trouble for broadcasting material known to be false, made up and untrue?

Sure sounds like these proposed TV spots qualify...

"True Lies" was an amazingly prescient movie, a decade ahead of 9-11 and dead on accurate of the Islamist mind set.

Ah. A fantasy show.

I'm sure there are indeed good muslims but they are curiously silent throughout all of this.

The war I mean, not the TV show.

I'm afraid that islam can't change reality, not in the U.S.
The news has to be shown the way it happens. That reality forms the perception. The producers can't cancel what the killer savages do daily.

I agree.

The islamists claim that 9/11 was caused because we support Israel. What about the rape and slaughter in Sudan of Christians by musilims? The Rape and slaughter of Hindus in India by muslims, The rape and slaughter of Buddhists by muslims? The Rape and slaughter of Russians by muslims, The Rape and slaughter of the Chinese by musilims is this because those nations hate Israel? THE islamists can not have it both ways.

Israel and JEWSS are not the problem, Christians are not the problem, Buddhists as not the problem, Hindus are not the PROBLEM!

ISLAM IS THE PROBLEM!!!!!
