I saw an interview with Grace Slick a few months ago. She said there wasn't anything worse than a has-been rock star trying to perform and that she was retired and would remain that way.

Ahhhh...the DU anthem...Somebody to Love:
When the truth is found to be lies And all the joy within you dies
Don't you want somebody to love Don't you need somebody to love Wouldn't you love somebody to love You better find somebody to love
When the garden's flowers, baby, are dead Yes, and your mind, your mind is so full of red
Your eyes, I say your eyes may look like his Yeah but in your head, baby I'm afraid you don't know where it is
Tears are running, they're all running down your breast And your friends, baby, they treat you like a guest

Rest in peace.Indeed. Quite the resume' he had. I listened to all those bands, QMS, New Riders, and I have "The Best of Moby Grape" double disc, which I listen to quite often, along with "Surrealistic Pillow" when I'm in the mood.
I know...I'm older now, but the music today does nothing for me. I'm a fading picture it seems. It's OK...I think I'll go listen to Pillow now, followed up by a heavy dose of CREAM.

Saw a thing recently by Jorma who said he had visited or chatted with Spencer and that Spencer was not well but they had had a good talk.
And just FWIW - so he had an affair with Grace Slick... seems like in the future it would be newsworthy only to mention someone if they had *not* had an affair with Grace Slick.

EVERYONE had an affair with Grace.

Panama Red, Panama Red
He'll steal your woman then he'll rob your head
Panama Red, Panama Red
On his white horse Mescalito he comes crusin' thru town
Bet your woman's up in bed with ol'
Panama Red.
Didn't know he was New Riders drummer as well. One of my all time favorite groups. Garcia played pedal steel on I Don't Need No Doctor. It smoked.
I saw New Riders eons ago and they were incredible.
I hope I live longer than he did.
RIP.

Except for Blows Against The Empire.
" Have you seen the stars tonight? Would you like to go up on a deck and look at them with me" God what a great tune.
