We're proud to premiere your exclusive look at the poster for the documentary Gunner Palace. Winning raves from critics who have been lucky enough to see it, Gunner Palace is a look at the Iraq war as seen through the eyes of the soldiers of the 2/3 artillery, operating out of the bombed out remains of Uday Hussein's pleasure palace. From the official site, www.gunnerpalace.com : "With total access to all operations and activities, [filmmaker Michael] Tucker's insider footage provides a rare look at the day-to-day lives of these soldiers on the ground -- whether swimming in Uday's pool and playing golf on his putting green or executing raids on suspected terrorists, enduring roadside bombs, mortar attacks, RPGs and snipers."
The film recently received an R rating from the MPAA, for strong language. The filmmakers, who feel that the movie should be able to be seen by Americans 13 and up, had this to say: "No doubt, there is strong language in the film, but taken in context of the subject, soldiers at war, the language is not gratuitous. We may not like or agree with what the soldiers say in this film. Some of us may even find their language offensive. However, their voices deserve to be heard--without restriction--in the country that sent them to war. This is a film about war and the reactions of the young people fighting in it. Those reactions are expressed through the language of the day. To restrict access to the film via an "R" rating is essentially censoring the experience of the American soldier. As Americans, one way we can support the troops, is by listening to what they have to say. To do this, to honor and respect their experience and sacrifice, we ask the MPAA to constructively work with us to bring the soldiers story to an audience that will include teens who are mature enough to see this film."

I've been waiting for this movie to come out for a year now. I saw a few pieces of it (like the clip of the soldier playing the Star Spangled Banner on his electric guitar on a rooftop in Baghdad, with gunfire and helicopters in the background). It looks pretty decent.
Michael moore eat your communist heart out.

Maybe the 'armor thing' gets brought up because it was/IS as real issue despite the many Freeper denials.
From the website and the trailers it looks very good. I hope I'm not dissappointed.
I am shocked and disappointed to learn that U.S. soldiers use strong language in combat.
It comes off as anti war to me. Not strongly though.
