Well, I have been informed that Kid Rock may still be playing at the inaugural youth concert. My friend John, who runs the Kid Rock website (www.extremekidrock.moonfruit.com) has a story from the National Ledger that Barbara Bush is still trying to get Mr. Ritchie to play at the event in Washington. (This info comes from Tara Copp of the Scripts Howard News Service.
Also, I got word from another person that Stef Eulinberg (Kid Rock's drummer) told him that they had been practicing for the show.
So, which is it--is he playing or not? Will the radicals who know nothing about Kid Rock get their way? Or will the blue-collar, heartland Americans get their way? Who the heck knows.
But I can say this. I have met with Kid Rock. He is a good guy and it would be a terrible shame for the GOP not to show its support for one of the only stars who supports the it.
It is also a shame that WND printed lyrics from a song that Ritchie wrote in 1990. Guess when his first real album was released--1998.
His latest cd is full of mostly country and southern-rock tunes. Also, Rock is friends with Charlie Daniels, Ted Nugent, Bob Segar, and Hank Williams Jr--all republicans. Would the WND people want to ban them?
He played at Gen. Tommy franks retirement party. He attended a party, in December, with Sec. Colin Powell. And he performed infront of President Bush at the Kennedy Center.
Banning Kid Rock from this event would be the equivolent of banning Chuck Norris because he was in a bunch of violent movies. Or like banning Charlie Daniels because he wrote songs about drug use.
Kid Rock has grown up and he is not the "rapper" that WND tried to present him as.
I guess we will see where this story goes, but I figured I'd pass along the new info, because this has been a popular topic over the last week.
"He played at Gen. Tommy franks retirement party. He attended a party, in December, with Sec. Colin Powell. And he performed infront of President Bush at the Kennedy Center"
Bunch of heathens, associating with KR!!!!!
I know, the horror of it all!
The story that won't die. :o)
Will this story ever end?
he is a spoiled punk who only behaves to get what he wants
One note for you: The site you mention is not an official Kid Rock website. It is a fan site. Information from the site may or may not be accurate. It is, however, unnoficial and not directly from Kid Rock or his associates.
It's important to make this distinction.
Some conservatives just wont be happy unless the entertainment is gospel music and the prayer sessions last for half the day.
Kid Rock is a great American, and I hope he gets to play.
Stop the insanity!
"he is a spoiled punk who only behaves to get what he wants"
You must know him very well. No? You've never met him? What a surprise!
It will have to, because the event is next tuesday! Until then, who knows.
I will say this. I bet that if Kid Rock does not end up playing he will not cause any fuss about it.
Around and around we go...
SHUT UP.
Jeez....I don't like the words to some of his songs either, but is this REALLY this big of a deal?
He wrote those lyrics in 1990... well I was a democrat then too. Let him play.
Okay, now I'm more annoyed by the indecisiveness than anything else.
MAKE A FREAKIN' DECISION!
LOL. Best response I've seen on any of these threads yet.
Who of us isn't?
you are correct. It is not kidrock.com (which I am a member of). But John, the guy who runs the site, knows Kid Rock and has never posted inaccurate information in the past. So the point is moot imo.
