And I'm willing to bet you have zero proof of that.
Guess what, it costs NY state more to keep some serial rapist/murderer alive than it does to shoot him, hang him, electrocute him, or lethally inject him.

That would be great!

Then, we could run a master spread sheet to average out the scores.

"So it appears I have still yet to be banned..which is funny dissenting views get blocked...but anyways I will be back somewhere perhaps in this form or another..."

You are banned.
And you are a lying sack of half digested cow feed, excreted in disc form and fit only as fertilizer for skunk cabbage and poison ivy.

It's amazing that you lasted as long as you did. But your rude sexual comments don't go over here like they do over in DUmmieland.

Maybe next time you feel like trolling, you'll keep your perverted thoughts to yourself while trying to argue your point . Not a very Christian attitude you displayed, but I have a feeling that you aren't very Christian.

So can somebody please first read this article then give me an honest and informed opinion on it.

Fine. As you have surely been informed by now on this thread, it is not within the power of a Governor of Texas to grant clemency without the express permission of the parole board. That applies to any Governor of Texas, not just Bush. Sister Prejean surely knew this fact too, yet chose to write paragraph after paragraph insinuating that Bush deliberately witheld clemency from people who deserved it, because he couldn't be bothered to do more than read summaries from Gonzales, who she also tars with Abu Ghraib.

So it's no more than a propaganda piece, aimed at both men, and having less to do with the death penalty or her idols on death row than with her wish to harm Bush and Gonzales.

Sister Prejean should get her own television show. They can call it The Lying Nun,.

Thanks for posting this. Heres's a little background on celebrity nun, Sr. Helen Prejean:

SPRING HILL COLLEGE (AL): Sr. Helen Prejean, C.S.J., an activist against the death penalty, gave the commencement address and received an honorary degree on May 11. This is the first year that Cardinal Newman Society has protested the selection of Prejean, who is a frequent speaker at Catholic college commencements, upon learning of a disturbing interview and follow-up letter in Our Sunday Visitor (4/14/96, 5/19/96) in which she dissented from Catholic teaching on the death penalty. Prejean criticized the "loophole" in Pope John Paul II's encyclical "Evangelium Vitae," in which he allows for the death penalty "in cases of absolute necessity" and requires individuals to make their own prudential judgment according to their conscience. In the interview, Prejean opposed abortion but argued that poor women without emotional support have little "choice" to make the right decision. "I think for us to really answer the abortion question so that women don't have them, we really have to look seriously at the whole thing of birth control, family planning and not having unwanted pregnancies," Prejean said in contradiction to Catholic teaching. Prejean also lamented that "women aren't getting a fair shake in the Church today" because they can't announce the Gospel or give a homily at Mass, tasks reserved for priests. "When you have a theology that says men only can represent Christ, we have something seriously wrong," Prejean said, appearing to question the male priesthood. Without evidence of more recent public statements expressing fidelity to Catholic teaching, Prejean is an inappropriate commencement speaker and honoree.

Sr. Helen is a dissident who uses her religious affiliation to garner media attention by spouting views the left loves to hear. She should not be mistaken for a believing Catholic. I wouldn't quite put her in the class of Frances Kissling of "Catholics" for Free Choice, but she's not far from there.

"How can forgiveness of adultery be compared to killing someone with a pickaxe?"

It can't. One is undeniably more heinous than the other. Adultery tears apart families, yes, but not in the way of a double murder with a pickaxe.

However, a long time ago, I started asking myself how I could reconcile my opposition to abortion with my acceptance of capital punishment. Yes, unborn children are as innocent as anyone could ever be. Yes, death row inmates are proven in court to be guilty of an abhorrent crime. To many, it seems like a clear distinction, and that's fine. I don't think anyone who feels that way is evil or hellbound or anything like that.

But I personally couldn't reconcile that inconsistency in my own heart. When I say that I'm pro-life, I want to say that I'm for all life. Life starts at conception, but it doesn't stop at birth. Slowly, I came to understand that in good conscience I couldn't oppose one without the other. This is what works for me, and others are free to believe as they will on this issue.

I pray that I won't have to face the ultimte challenge to this belief. If someone I cared about were murdered, this opinion would be shaken to the very core of my soul. I can talk all day about what I "would think" if that were to happen, but there's no way to understand how I'd actually believe until it happened. I like to think that I'd remain steadfast in my belief, though. I'm called to forgive, to turn the other cheek and above all to love. I don't want to hold my religious and political beliefs only when they're convenient. I can only say that I truly believe in something when I still hold on to it when it's difficult or inconvenient. To do otherwise would make me a hypocritical John-Kerry-like flip-flopper.

(There, did that last sentence help win me some credibility around here? (grin))

The Governor of Texas can only grant clemency if it is recommended by the State Dept of Correction review board.

I don't believe that to be true. If I remember correctly, the Gov. of Texas has NO power to grant clemency, period. The Gov. can grant a single 30 day stay and order a review by the clemency board. After that it is out of the Gov hands.
