KENNEDY:...But what Im talking about, we are faced with globalization today. We are faced with globalization. If the Republicans want to talk about values, well talk about values...
Democrats talk about real values as hope and opportunity and about respect. Those are our values. We glad to debate them on the values. And secondly, I believe that we are facing globalization and we have to equip every citizen, every American citizen, so they can deal with globalization, individually. And we as a country have to be with it.
When we saw Sputnik, in 1957, and we went ahead and said, look, we need to have a crash program for math and science individualsfor math and science. We have doubled the education budget. We increased our scientists and research by over $100,000 for four consecutive years. We can do it. And we shouldnt be left behind.
We are going to compete, outsourcing of low-wage jobs, for jobs that are a threat to families in this country, for the Wal-Martization of our industrial base. No way. That is no the vision I see for America. And I think the Democrats have to embrace this opportunity and they can win with it.
MATTHEWS: Could you have won in Ohio with this argument?
KENNEDY: I believe in it.
MATTHEWS: You are focusing on the economy, and yet the Republicans hit values. They hit abortion, gay marriage. And the Democrats get thrown on the defensive.
KENNEDY: Were not on the defensive. What is the issue in terms of values when they want when we see men and women working 40 hours a week, 52 weeks a year and they cant provide for their families, or to educate, or to clothe and feed them. That is a value.

This is important because I believe that the Democrats newest strategy is to divide the Republican base along this issue
theyve got nothing else. And there is a deep division along this line between the Libertarian-wing of the party and the other-wing(s) of the party (however it is/they are defined). The Democrats arent dumb, they read from this forum; and you can tell that the senator deliberately went off topic in his sit down with Matthews. Read the whole thing from the link if you doubt me.
Didn't Ted just implicitly endorse Dean?
Just ask Mary Jo or Marilyn.
I cannot for the life of me figure out what he is trying to say. Perhaps I need more coffee. I saw the "interview" and I couldn't follow him them. I appreciate your posting of the transcript, but it sounds like a jumble of unconnected talking points.
1. Chris Matthews has really gone over to the dark side (Again). For a while he seemed to be moderating his presentation but watching him slobbering all over Teddy was the worst.
2. Teddy is virtually completely Bonkers. He was extremely wound up nd not focused. Even more disgusting than usual and that is going very far over the edge!
"The Wizard of Uhs"...
as usual, I was too busy counting all the "uhs" to even try to decipher what he was saying...
Hope, opportunity, and respect are not "values" per se- these terms as used are as vague as "family friendly" and "diversity".
These terms are used here as advertising slogans. Socializing (and then globalizing?) medicine offers "hope" in the Democrat rubric.
"Opportunity" is government tax funded jobs.
"Respect"? The party that put up and defended a serial rapist offers "respect"?
Slogans cannot hide Senate votes and their effects.
As for Sputnik, does Kennedy propose meeting the Chinese challenge to go to Mars after building a moon base, or does he think the money is better spent on Earth offering hope and opportunity to illegal aliens?
Dont feel bad BahBah I cant understand it either. Oh!! he did mention Globalization . I know what that is. To a Democrat Globalisation means signing Kyoto and giving our jobs to the people in Thailand and China.
I believe incoheresey is a mark of intellectualism, nowadays. "We are going to compete,......, for jobs that are a threat to families in this country..." I'm sorry, but every speech this old fool, Byrd and MANY others give are jumbled, inconsistent, lying and just plain sophomoric. Where are the ideas from this bunch of lame brains?
"Let's see what kind of response this gets" ping.
Ted should start off every speach with "Hi I'm Ted Kennedy and I'm an alcoholic".
Then lower our taxes so we have more take home pay.
I feel much better. He really is incoherent.
Is it because we have to feed this fat entitlement hog that you and your ilk has created? Could it be the fac that I have to pay over 12% in Soc. Sec. and Medicare taxes off the top before we even get to the federal and state taxes?
And whose going to pay for your one-payer, cradle-to-grave health care system?
Look in the mirror, jerk. Or in your case, look in two mirrors!
So people can't get food, education, or buy needed things when they are fully employed? Kennedy you are nut case.
A man who left a pregnant woman at the bottom of a lake to drown while he figured out ways to cover his a$$ is going to be a spokesperson for VALUES? Be serious.
The democratic party is devoid of values.
Democrats certainly do have vlaues:
They value extra right for homos, abortion mills, prono as "art," America-hating, and of course, ever higher taxes.
Democrats like Kennedy adore Big Brother and wants to make us all slaves to the government.
These are the values of the Democrats.
The man speaks in that staccato, rambling manner associated with long term alcoholics and schizophrenics. There is also that leftist trope of being intentionally unclear so as to always have an "out" if confronted. They call it intellectualism. We call it gibberish. All the truly smart people are concise and clear. Occam's Razor and all that.
This is an interesting concept. The black Christians use this argument a lot. They believe, or say they believe, Jesus said if we don't feed people and take care of them we are going to Hell. But if you kill innocent babies, as the Democrats promote, that is OK.
My congratulations, Democrats. The lying Satan is alive and well in you.
