CBS needs to show Rather the door

With this week's release of the report on the screwed-up investigation of President Bush's military record by CBS' "60 Minutes Wednesday," it is painfully clear that Dan Rather should fall on his sword.

The legacy of Edward R. Murrow is at stake here, and axing four off-camera folks unknown to the public just isn't enough. Neither is Rather's March 9 departure from the "CBS Evening News" anchor chair. He's supposed to remain as a correspondent at the very news magazine that aired the bungled story.

Rather isn't merely the face of a story that was rushed onto the air. He's the guy who kept vouching for questionable memos that served as documentation for the story even as doubts about their veracity multiplied.

We know now, thanks to the report, that he had little input into the story that he narrated. That alone should be a major embarrassment, the journalistic equivalent of Ashlee Simpson's lip-synching.

The Internet is to CBS,NBC & ABC as the digital camera is to Kodak and Polaroid.

In See-BS's case, I'd compare Dan Rather to something akin to cave paintings.

That was no investigation. That was a whitewash. Paid for by CBS and conducted by their own staff. The conclusions in no way correlate to the findings which are conveniently hidden in footnotes and subtle phrases.

The facts show convincingly that the story (fable) was done as a hit piece (probably by the CBS News staff but that was not shown). The prime mover, Mary Mapes, has a five year hate going for the Bushes. She personally worked on this specific story for at least four years.

The investigators concluded there was evidence of bias or political motive. CRAP! There is more circumstantial evidence of bias and political motive than there was that Scott was involved in the disappearance of Lacy.

These "investigators should themselves be investigated. And by the feds, for assisting in the various crimimal acts committed by CBS in this whole mess.

Dan. Slink softly and quietly into the night.
Les. YOU TOO.
FCC. Shut the bastards down!

Ol Dan - - - what a guy! Still Managing Editor, Anchor, and darlin' of L.I.E. (Liberal Intelligencia Elite). Time was I used to call him Dan "Rather" Socialist. But now, seein' as how he can survive The MemoGate Scandal, it is time to revise my thinking.

Yep, Ol' Dan wasn't accused of being biased, even though the preponderance of the evidence proves that he was biased. Nope, Ol' Dan is "Rather" biased, at least in the opinion of the members of L.I.E., and the CBS employees who are still on the payroll.

BTW, who does Dan "Rather" Biased work for now? With all the hullaballoo over MemoGate, CBS needs a more accurate name than the staid ol' "Columbia Broadcasting System. No Siree, this is 2005, and the winds of change demand accuracy!

Yep, CBS has been proven by MemoGate to be clearly a biased storyteller! It all fits together so well: Dan "Rather" Biased is the News Anchor for CBS, now known as the Clearly Biased System.

Let me ask a question. Why does a multimillion dollar budgeted news organization, its head, and its spokesman, all of which now know they were taken by someone who gave them forged, false documents, now take all of the heat coming down on them and will not expose the party whose criminal activity is/has destroyed their credibility, buisness, legacy, and essentially their lives.WHY?
My answer is it is not money. It is not sex. Fear is a huge motivator. I'll get back to that in a moment. I could understand Rather trying to protect his daughter, but why would the corporation take this fall? I do not think Monves or Heyward would give up all for Rathers daughter. If the mafia threatened to kill them if exposed that might motivate, but I don't think that is it.
Fear of loss of something greater than they stand to loose if what has happened did occur. Reputation?Physical wellbeing? Exposure of hidden things in the past. What if someone wanted this to happened who happened to have FBI files which would expose the company for what it is? Does anyone, other than the FBI have such documents? If someone had their eye on the Presidency, who would they want to most control...information outlets.
But I could be overreaching, or perhaps not.

A VERY good question! Why indeed! Ol' Dan "Rather" Biased told the writers of the Investigation that he (Ol' Dan} still believes the documents sent to Mary Mapes to be essentially true. In my humble, but ALWAYS correct opinion, the execs. who are above Ol' Dan also believe the same as Ol' Dan.

Heyward, the only exec. who argued FOR an early apology to the Public, was let go with the other three employees. Thus, all who remain are of the same mind, and thus re-inforce each others biases. Hence, they are capable of only Completely Biased Stories, or CBS for short.
