You know what I just heard Senator Kennedy say? Senator Kennedy (impression) said, "I do not retract from my view that Iraq is George Bush's Vietnaaaam." Now, this is from a guy who's out there today to set the new agenda for the Democratic Party, to explain to the country just who the Democrats are and why they do have the values of the United States. This man's not even smart enough anymore to look at polling data or the election results! Before he said, "Iraq is George W. Bush's Vietnam," he had spent some time saying, "Don't make a mistake about this. I support our efforts theyah. We can't dabbada, dabbada. I have more to say about this after the elections but I do not retract my view that this is George W. Bush's Vietnaaaam." This is not Vietnam, Senator Kennedy. What we heard from Senator Kennedy with that quote is wishful thinking. The Vietnam War remains the singular military experience to the American left. America in defeat. America wrong. America shamed. Even Howard Fineman today in his piece that plagiarizes me essentially in describing why the media party is over in America today, mentions that their last great efforts that unified the country... When you hear this Fineman piece it's amazing, because he's describing an activist media that wasn't just an innocent bystander reporting news.
They were a party, as in a political party, and it was they who helped unify the Democrats back in the civil rights era and the Vietnam era. Make no mistake about it: That's exactly what they think. That's why Vietnam is so important to them! It's one of those periods of glory: Defeating the United States, taking us down to defeat, getting rid of Richard Nixon because of it, and a number of other things. These are their glory days and they can't let go of them and so Senator Kennedy wants everybody to believe we're in another Vietnam where America basically is wrong; America is immoral and America is doing things it shouldn't be doing and the rest of the world hates us and we ought to get out, blah, blah, blah but we shouldn't get out, he says. He'll have more to say about it after the election. This, my friends, is what passes for the Democrats today trying to reassemble themselves in some fashion that they can be actually liked by and supported by the American people. He's the wrong guy to send out there, especially... I mean without him saying anything, he's the wrong guy to send out there, but then when he opens his mouth and says stuff like this, they're just hammering more nails in their coffins.

RUSH: We have a sound bite, we have the Ted Kennedy sound bite that I quoted for you earlier about his view of this war in Iraq. Now remember what this is; this is Senator Kennedy speaking about the future of the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party seeks to reassemble itself just like Howard Fineman admits today, the media party -- and not in a social sense but rather as a political organization -- Howard Fineman admits the media has been a party unto itself aligned with the Democrats, and CBS has shown this to be true, and that's why they're all in trouble. He hopes CBS cleans their house soon for everybody's sake. Here's Ted Kennedy out there today suggesting that the Democratic Party has a future, that he's articulating it -- and this was just part of it.
SWIMMER: Obviously we must deal with Iraq and did clear and present danger of terrorism. I intend to address that issue in greater detail after the elections there. But I do not retreat from the view that Iraq is George Bush's Vietnam. At the critical moment in the war on terrorism, the administration turned away from pursuing Osama bin Laden and made the cat-a-strophic choice instead that has bogged down America in an endless quagmire in Iraq [sic].
RUSH: He's re-fighting the campaign from last year that the Democrats lost. I'll tell you what the Democrats are doing. They are still having to shore up their cracked, kook fringe base. That is the kind of thinking you get out of the fringe Democrat websites, fringe Democrat radio that believes all of this, that the war on terror is separate from Iraq and that getting bin Laden would end terrorism. It's sophistry, ladies and gentlemen. So once again, the Democrats are showing that haven't the slightest clue what to do to describe their future, a positive future. All they know how to do is to hammer more nails into their coffin. Now, we'll have more of Senator Kennedy as warranted this afternoon, also some in the... Well, tomorrow when we actually have a chance to review the whole speech that he's making. But I guarantee you what it's gonna be. It's gonna be a rehash of the Democrat campaign that the Kerry campaign ran. The Democrats are obstinate; the Democrats are stubborn and they still believe they lost not because of their policies and who they are, what they say. They lost because you're stupid. You're buying slick marketing and packaging from Karl Rove. You're believing a bunch of things that aren't true and they're going to keep pounding you with their truth until you're so sick and tired of hearing about it, they're going to dwindle from their 31% registration today down to 20% by 2008 if they keep this up.

RUSH: Here's a headline from Reuters: "Kerry Chides U.S. Middle East Policy." Here's more doom and gloom. Here's more catastrophe waiting to happen. Here's more negativism on parade by the man who lost the presidential election. "Middle East countries are frustrated by U.S. policy in Iraq and feel too little is being done to end violence there, Kerry said on a visit to the region. He repeatedly criticized the Bush administration's Iraq policy during his failed bid to win the presidency," and keeps doing it in his bid to lose the next run that he makes. "All of the countries of the region have a significant stake in the outcome, and yet they are frustrated." It's amazing. These people are still running the campaign! He's still saying the same things that he said during the campaign. In the meantime, we're gonna have elections on January 30th, and these elections are going to surprise people. People are going to show up in droves to vote in these Iraqi elections -- and when that happens, this is terrorist defeat #5. They're not going to be able to recover from this. But am I the only one -- I hope not. Am I the only one sick and tired of John Kerry taking his anti-war presidential campaign to foreign territory now?
The other day Kerry met with Syrian dictator's minister foreign minister, that little Bashar Assad's foreign minister. He left that meeting dumping on U.S. policy. Here he's in Egypt; he leaves Egypt and then dumps on our policy. We actually have the leader of the other party traveling around the world undermining U.S. policy and the mission of American troops in the field, barely anyone back here notices -- and Senator Kennedy still speaking at the National Press Club with the same message. You get these little wire stories like I have here, which read like Kerry for President Press Releases even though the election was last November -- and in the meantime, the vision of George W. Bush -- and he's not going to be daunted by this. This is the thing the president said, another piece of great advice. He says in this interview, "If I had listened to all my critics, we wouldn't have had tax cuts. If I'd listen to all my critics we wouldn't have been anywhere. I'm not going to listen to the critics. I'm going to do Social Security reform. I'm going to follow through on immigration, and I'm going to do the things that I was elected to do, period."

RUSH: We can't wait till tomorrow. We just can't. He just concluded his speech about ten minutes ago at the National Press Club. Senator Kennedy speaking about the future of the Democratic Party, which is the problem -- first off -- and that's the theme: It ought to be the future of America. But the future of America is of no interest to them. The future of the Democratic Party is what interests them. The last person to send out there to tell the American people what the future of the Democratic Party is, is Ted Kennedy. Ted Kennedy defined the old, Hackneyed, dinosaur, Jurassic Park, liberal wing of the Democratic Party and we played one sound bite for you already today, where he said that Iraq is George W. Bush's Vietnam, thereby proving what I have always said to you about these people: Vietnam -- and I'm going to find this Howard Fineman piece because he brings this up. Howard Fineman's piece today, despite plagiarizing me -- thematically plagiarizing me; he writes about the end of the mainstream media's monopoly and he admits that they were a political party, not just a bunch of "Newsies," and he says they came of age during the civil rights movement and the Vietnam War when they effectively changed policy and made something happen by making sure the Democratic Party did the right thing back then. The right thing. So Vietnam, to them, is their defining moment -- particularly, many of these people, of their youth, and Vietnam defines America at war for them: Wrong. Ignoble.
Wrong, ignoble, incorrect, immoral, and should be defeated -- and so every war since Vietnam is how the left in this country sees any war. Vietnam is how they see any war, is how they see this country. That's how antiquated and old their playbook is, and I don't know the psychological reasons for this: Validating their youth, trying to remember the glory days and repeat them. They're kind of like people. You ever put together a spontaneous party on a Saturday night? It goes so well you try to do it again the next Saturday night and it's never nearly as good because you planned it, as opposed to spontaneously happened the previous week. Same thing here. They're trying to relive the civil rights movement. They're trying to relive the Vietnam glory days ever since by trying to turn every issue into a variation of the theme on both of those -- and as such, they haven't modernized and they have lost touch with the American people but they don't even realize that. They think the American people are just stupid bunch of hicks, religious zealots who believe a bunch of lies put out by Bush, Cheney and Halliburton and basically you are stupid and the Democrats are going to keep pounding you with their "truth" until you're wise enough to get it rather than assess themselves and say, "What's wrong with us?" So you have three more Senator Kennedy bites. He is in fantasy land here in this bite. Basically says Bush only won because he attacked Kerry and thus has no mandate.
SWIMMER: I categorically reject the deceptive and dangerous claim that the outcome last Novembah was somehow a sweeping or even a modest or even a miniature mandate, for reactionary measures like (tepid applause) privatizing Social Security, redistributing the tax burden in the wrong direction, or packing the federal courts with reactionary judges. Those proposals were barely mentioned or voted on in election [sic] dominated by memories of 9/11, fear of terrorism, the quagmire in Iraq, and relentlessly negative attacks on our presidential candidate.
RUSH: Now, you probably don't need me to analyze this. I mean, this is just infantile. Negative attacks on their candidate? For God's sake, what was Fahrenheit 9/11? What was the 9/11 Commission? They even went so far as to write books suggesting Bush should be assassinated! The media told us we should read that book. That it's an important literary work. As for there being no mandate? Folks, they're in utter denial. All of these things were fundamental parts of the Bush stump speech. Just because the mainstream press didn't cover a whole lot of these stump speeches doesn't mean Bush didn't say it, and it doesn't mean voters didn't hear it. Senator Kennedy doesn't listen to this program or programs like it nor watch Fox News, so he doesn't know what Bush said. But the American people who voted know what Bush said. He does have a mandate -- and this "reactionary judges"? Reactionary judges! Folks, I've had that word thrown at me over the years. "Oh, you're just a reactionary!" It's intended to say you're a fascist. It's intended to say that you're not a thinker. It's an attempt to discredit people with whom you cannot win an argument by labeling them in a pejorative way. But what all this adds up to is, they still don't get it. They're still in utter denial of reality, and as such, we should be happy and celebrating because these people want to continue to go down with the ship. Here is the next bite: America is a bully.
SWIMMER: America is strongest in the world when we use our superpower status to join with other nations to achieve great goals. Instead of bullying them to salute us, more than ever our strength today depends on pursuing our purposes in cooperation with others, not in ways that anger them or ignore them or condescend (stammers) to them. Franklin Roosevelt said of America in 1945, "We have learned that we cannot live alone at peace; that our own well-being is dependent on the well-being of nations far away."
RUSH: Stop this a minute.
SWIMMER: We had --
RUSH: Stop this a minute. This is classic. In the first place, who did we "bully" into saluting us? The rest of the world, as defined by France and Germany and many members of the Security Council. In fact, we got the majority of the vote at the Security Council. A couple countries, France and Germany, refused to go along. We said, "Fine, if you don't help us, we're going to do what needs to be to do ourselves," and precisely what was being done? Pursuing our purposes which meet the purposes of other nations around the world. "Our own well-being is dependent on the well-being of nations far away." That means nations that also live in freedom that are not breeding grounds for hatred of America or terrorists or anything of the sort. This is precisely what we are doing, Senator Kennedy! I can't believe he is so stupid that he doesn't know it. I think he's just upset that they've been outsmarted on this. I think if you want to quote FDR as Kennedy did, and say, "Which party today is more like that FDR statement?" you'd have to say it's the party led by George W. Bush than it is the party led by the Democrats, who have become a bunch of isolationists. These are the people that want to turn over our sovereignty, if you will, our defense to the United Nations.
These are people who talked about passing "a global test," ladies and gentlemen, before we defended ourselves. That's not what the hell FDR was talking about. He didn't worry about a global test. We were the global test. This whole notion of "bullying" is precisely what the Democrats think a superpower is. That's why Madeleine Albright was saying, "It's not fair we're the only one; we need another superpower to keep ourselves in check." How much folly is that? And they say it's us on the right longing for the old days of the Soviet Union as a superpower? It sounds to me like it's Madam Albright and she was... The Clinton administration did the best they could to create a nuclear superpower out of North Korea, and China. It's mind-boggling. That's why, I mean, the last guy you send out to talk to the American people about the Democratic Party is this guy saying what he said. It will be interesting to see what Howard Fineman says, if anything, about this, given piece he wrote today about how it's all over, that they've lost. This is the wrong way to go. Let's see if Howard Fineman just can't help himself and other liberal media members just cannot help themselves because this all sounds so wonderful, so flowery, so Peter, Paul and Mary, so Puff the Magic Dragon. Let's just see if they cannot help themselves and glom right onto this and say, "Oh, yeah! This is who we are. This is what we need to stand for. These are the ideals." One more Kennedy bite: Democrats are the minority, we all know. He is telling us in this bite they are the majority.
SWIMMER: A new American majority is ready to respond to our call for a re-vitalized American dream grounded firmly in our Constitution and in the endless adventure of lifting this nation to ever new heights of discovery and prosperity and progress, and service to all our people and to all humanity. We as Democrats may be in the minority in Congress, but we speak for the majority of Americans. If we summon the courage and the determination to take our stand and state it clearly, I'm convinced the battles that lie ahead will yield our greatest victories.
RUSH: Uh, bring them on, senator. Bring them on! This is so convoluted, it's a shame, almost. I used to look forward to the challenge in refuting these people each day, but now it's not even a challenge. This was just pathetic. "A new American majority is ready to respond to our call for a revitalized American dream"? (snorts) What is happening in America right now is not the American dream. It happens every day, senator. The American dream happens in this country every day, despite you, and despite Republicans, despite liberals and conservatives, the American dream happens each and every day. It's not up to you. It's not up to the Democrats or anyone else to make it happen. Your job's to get out of the way so people can realize the American dream. "We as Democrats may be in the minority in Congress. We speak for the majority of Americans"? This is simply delusional. Elections mean things. Elections and votes count. But I forgot. They think Ohio was stolen. Do you know that the, uh, REVrend Jacks'nnn is still in Ohio looking for 60 to 70,000 votes?

RUSH: We just got our last Ted Kennedy sound bite of the day from his speech today at the National Press Club, speaking about the future of the Democratic Party.
SWIMMER: We should stop the nonscientific, pseudo-scientific, anti-scientific nonsense emanating from the right wing and start demanding immediate action to reloose [sic] global warming and prevent the catastrophic climate change that may be on our horizon now.
RUSH: Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! What is this, "may be on our horizon"? Let me take you back. I'm watching This Week with David Brinkley in 1985. On the guest, Michael Oppenheimer -- the show, the guest Michael Oppenheimer -- from some pointed headed elitist scientific outfit, and he says, "This is something we can't prove. We've only got 20 years, however. If we don't give something now, in the next 20 years, this is going to be irreversible and we're all going to suffer the consequences of global warning." Well, it's 20 years, and Senator Kennedy is still saying: may be on our horizon. Why is the left so interested in this, folks? Why? Why do they come up with protocols for the United Nations such as Kyoto which excuse the world's largest polluters like China? Why do they do this? Because all this is, is a money grab. The Democrats would love it for the poor nations of the world to get their hands on our bounty and on our loot -- as though we don't give enough! The left in this country would love to step back from our rapid technological advances. The left knows that they can't claim any credit for it. The left, the modern home of wayward communists, my friends, is the implosion of the Soviet Union is the modern environmentalist wacko movement. Not the environmental movement, the "wacko" environmental movement. The people that say get rid of toilet paper and use tree bark. The people that say global warming is happening. They make disaster movies to try to illustrate their point. That's who we should listen to? Once again, it is a bunch of doom and gloomers, a bunch of people obsessed with fear and negativism and they are obsessed over the prosperity of this country because that will result in the downsizing of government -- and that, they cannot abide.

RUSH: I've got about 35 seconds. Let's go to Kurt at Scott Air Force Base. Welcome, sir. Great to have you on the program.
CALLER: Hey, how you doing, Rush?
RUSH: Fine.
CALLER: I thought the most interesting thing to come out of Ted Kennedy's first bite, he's talking about Iraq being Bush's Vietnam, and he says, "And I'll have more on that after the Iraqi elections," and I think he's just setting the stage to come out after the elections and whether it's good, bad or otherwise, he'll have something to spin in a negative way to say that we're failing in Iraq again. Whether there was violence that disrupted the elections or whether the insurgents didn't get too involved in the national elections.
RUSH: There will be and that's an excellent point. There's going to be. There's going to be some violence during these elections. There's no question -- and you're probably right. Senator Kennedy is waiting for there to be a big televised coverage of this whatever happens during the elections on January 30th, and then point fingers and say, "See? I told you so!" We'll keep a sharp eye. That's a great point.
DNC: "lets try a different New England Liberal this time"
I'm sure that Ted lights a candle every Sunday and prays that Iraq turns into a disaster.
IDIOT! How does that work, Swimmer?
Ted Kennedy, the dnc's chappequiddock.
TED KENNEDY ON HARDBALL NOW
And this is how decrepit and time-warped the Rats really are: dragging out Fatso Kennedy to recover from November's losses. Sending F'n Kerry out to undermine American foreign policy and American troops.
These people are locked in the 60's.
They are doomed.
PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THE RAT PARTY GOOD ADVICE AND TELL THEM WHAT THEY ARE DOING WRONG.
WE WANT THEM TO GO EXTINCT.
Thanks- if I ever see that lardass in person I am going to makle it a point to ask him if he drowned any campaign workers lately
I don't know if anyone caught this, but Kennedy got Osama bin laden and Senator Obama mixed up.
Maybe somebody should have reminded Teddy Boy who got us into Vietnam. No, it wasn't Richard Nixon, much as the media would like posterity to think so. And it wasn't Lyndon Baynes Johnson. It was Teddy's own dear brother.
What does Teddy have to say about that, I wonder?

I just loathe the fact that Massachusetts has these two jackasses as Senators.
It's embarassing. To have Democratic Senators is one thing but these two!?!? Hell, Barbara Boxer is sane compared with these two.
Arioch7 out.
Osama Obama
That was in the Q & A after the Swimmer's speech. I sure hope that Rush got the tape. If so, we'll hear it tomorrow - and forever.
