Seattle comes to mind, and makes me very uneasy.

I'm going to take some solice in the fact that the Secret Service will be in charge, I'm pretty sure they've contemplated all of these secenarios. My bet is on them.

Becker said he considers the agreement a "partial victory" but still inadequate

Of course. Not until no Bush supporters---nay, no Bush--would this jerk be happy.

10,000 morons on bleachers made for 1000 ought to make for an interesting collapse.

...and then the protesters will sue the Park Service!

Letting them construct their own bleachers is begging for trouble, as someone has undoubtedly said farther down on this thread.

I didn't see anyone on this thread suggest doing that.

Bad idea. They would probably evacuate several surrounding blocks - including the FReepers.

Right next to where FR will be. We did not get the permit for the Navy Memorial, but we will be close enough to watch them (they got the spot).

Brian Becker is such a wiener.

Sure, having the MSM there to capture the hate and ugliness of the leftists will turn off more Americans to the lefty cause, but this decision by the Park Service is STUPID and DANGEROUS.

Hey, let's gather up to 10,000 angry, violent, America-hating communists, anarchists, anti-Semites, racists and other assorted thugs ALL IN ONE PLACE. Hey, and let's allow them to build bleachers for 1,000 of the nastiest and most-dangerous ones to use as a launching pad for whatever projectiles, etc. that they can smuggle into the area.

I'm sure the families whose kids, brothers, sisters, dads, moms and others who are either marching in or working security at the parade have no worries at all that these people who organized this "protest" (have you seen their movie calling for a new civil war yet?) would do anything to start a riot, AT THE BEGINNING OF THE PARADE.

How does the Park Service plan to stop a 10,000-person surge into the parade route? Do they think that some bike rack fencing and a couple-of-rows-deep line of LEOs will stop a crowd surge of that size, if one starts?

It could be very, very ugly.

The Park Service has taken leave of their senses.

Indeed they have.

Are they trying to duplicate the debacle of the WTO riots in Seattle or the rioting at the Group of Seven summit in Italy a few years ago???

Apparently.

I thought the security agencies learned after that you just can't let those people close to the leaders or you're asking for trouble.

Apparently not here in DC.

And the whole world will be watching, as the revolutionaries take center stage and do whatever they can get away with; rioting will no doubt be tops on their list.

What is the Park Service thinking? Are they thinking?

"We" are located on Pennsylvania Avenue, between 7th and 6th St. NW. They will be two (fairly long, city) blocks away, on the same side of the road.
Their permitted site will be in a plaza between the Canadian Embassy and the federal courthouse (which makes for easy transport of the arrestees, I guess).

Anybody got a map?

"Why should the protestors be allowed to erect bleachers on land they do not own?"

Actually, it's land that you and I own through our extorted tax dollars. Now...how to prove that these people who have all the time in the world and yet produce nothing that contributes to the greater good, but also have all the time in the world to arrange this foolishness, are tax evaders? We could kill two birds with one stone! ;)

Friggin' Blue Staters.

"Keep the cameras away, and there won't be 20 people."

You're probably right. At most, it'll be the usual 37 people that show up for all of the socialist "Million Moron Marches" that they hold.

Two locations. Indiana and 7th, and along Pennsylvania between 6th and 7th. Our two locations are very near to one another, but not contiguous, IIRC.

Can't they change the parade route at the last minute?
