""It sends a huge message that the court is not going to be open to a broad-based homosexual agenda," said Matt Staver, president of the Liberty Counsel in Orlando Fla."
Smartest thing I heard a Lib say in ages.
Staver isn't a lib. I think he is wrong too, though I wish her were right. The good news is, we are not required by a judicial oligarchy to corrupt children in Florida -- yet.
Everything with the ACLU is either a brilliant victory or devasting setbacks for freedom. Nothing is ever told clearly: Either the ACLU is destroying our culture or prevented temporarily from destroying our culture.
On the other hand, all the pro-ACLU justices must be making this their bargaining chip for a future nod toward their future pet case before Bush replaces a few justices. i'll wait for that shoe to drop.
They claim that homosexuality is between "consenting adults", that child never consents to being brought into an "alternative lifestyle".
A full house beats two of a kind.
Some asked why should homosexual acts be outlawed if the punishment is just going to be a slap on the wrist (legal punishment is even applied)... it certainly stood as a barrier to endorsing homosexuality (a crime) in schools, it stood as a barrier to same sex marriage and same sex couple adoption.
I'm afraid you're right; this statement is exaggerated. The decision sends a message that the homosexuals' partisans on the Supreme Court don't think they have the votes to impose this, yet. They'll be doing everything they can to "fix" that situation in the next few years.
You are exactly right, weegee. I used to think "big deal" (though I thought it was wrong for the Court to make it a Constitutional right)." Now I see their purpose. One of the problems with court rule is that it is darn hard to correct mistakes.
In MOST adoption cases, gays have to lie or hide their perversion from licensed adoption agencies to get approved. That should carry felony penalties.
This phrase clearly shows the political mindset of homosexuals and their liberal followers.
The legislators are the poltical voice of the people and the wishes of the people are to be avoided in cases of American social policy.
To the homosexuals only that small cadre of liberal justices are to be involved with setting social policy -- from the bench.
Maybe the Supremes' heard the red states in this last election.
The Florida ACLU is "devastated". Joan Bikupic in the USA Today calls it a setback for groups advocating increases in "gay" rights.
The groups were obviously hoping that this case would piggy back on the 2003 ruling (Lawrence v. Texas) and seek expansion on "gay" rights in relationship to family formation.
Good news ping
ACLU Ping!
I think it's a sad day for children who would NOT get otherwise adopted by heterosexual families.

So what happens to children already in custody of gay couples? or scumbags like Rosie O'Donnell or those who have the children as a normal human being and then merge into gay relationships? I would think child welfare would or should take them away or at least place them with the straight parent of the two if possible.
"One small step for man......."
its good news that some of these judges are finally doing something about adultery to.

This is a huge win.
