That dance she did on Saturday Night Live after she got busted lip syncing was the funniest thing I have seen on that program in over 10 years!

Teen songbird Ashlee Simpson had a microphone malfunction on "Saturday Night Live" (oct 23) last night, scurrying off stage when a production glitch caught her lip-synching the wrong tune. The pop star, younger sister of singer and TV star Jessica Simpson, sounded great belting out "Pieces of Me" in her first segment on the show. It was the same song that she butchered at August's MTV Music Video Awards, drawing withering reviews for a flat, out of key performance. But the triumphant moment turned into a debacle when she came out to debut the song "Autobiography" for a second set. But whoever was responsible for piping in a studio-engineered rendition for Simpson to mouth screwed up, playing "Pieces" once again. The raven-haired beauty hopped around briefly, then slinked off the stage as her hapless band half-heartedly faked away. It didn't take long for critics to vent their rage on Ashlee Simpson's official Web site. "Finally, you're exposed for the fraud that you are," wrote an E-mail poster named drdrewby minutes after the embarrassing performance. "You have cheated your fans and people who actually thought that you had a lick of talent. You should quit the music business because you are now and always will be a complete and utter joke." Said CowboyJeff99: "I knew she sounded like crap live, so I was 'wondering' what was going on when her voice sounded just like the radio edit."

It was a hoedown which she did pretty well. She showed her imaturity by not telling the band to restart the song etc.

I wonder what she is like in the sack then.

She's just a kid, so what difference does it make? That has nothing to do with her singing, anyway.

Even funnier was when she was loudly booed during her entire performance at the Orange Bowl this year.

Not sure wether to blame her or her father or both. Is she that hard that she can come back from beeing booed by 70,000 people. Just one would send me into crying spasms.

Ashlee Simpson is nowhere near as hot as he sister, so I guess her bag is supposed to be the "serious artist." Except she doesn't have the talent. Maybe she should just put the bag on her head.

The Dad is probably more supportive than pushy. Ashlee has been in various TV programs including a regular, at least for a while, kinda oxymoronic, on 7th Heaven.

I think she's drive by envy..........definitly not talent.

That whole Orange Bowl halftime show was messed up audio-wise and Kelly Clarkson really surprised me by managing to hammer through her number despite mic problems and what seemed to be monitor issues. Never a fan of "American Idol" or Ms. Clarkson, but she showed real professionalism in the face of major on-stage weirdness. Ashlee Simpson, on the other hand, seems like little more than "this year's model", soon to be last year's.

I agree, her dad's probably just being supportive and that's probably very tough for him at this point. I think Simpson's doing this because she wants to.

I didn't see Simpson's Orange Bowl apearance but I did see a bit of Kelly Clarkson's performance and it looked like she was having problems hearing herself sing. She was using a finger to close one ear in an attempt to hear herself better. It's a bit of a challenge to sing in tune and blend well when you can't hear yourself. And the mixing of the vocals left a great deal to be desired, as well. I felt bad for Clarkson but she seemed to have the seasoning and stage presence to get through it. Apparently, Simpson did not. Of course the crowd was probably not inclined to cut Simpson any slack, either.

My daughter has been to one of her concerts and she says it was one of the best ones she has ever attended.

Ashlee jumps and screams, and couldn't find a key with a global positioning system.

*snort* LOLing here...

The crowd booing showed a total lack of class.

She deserved every single boo she got and then some. Cripes, there is more talent stuck in the treads of my boots. That was absolutely horrific. If I had screwed up that bad, I would have run off to find the nearest high-speed train and made myself a 0-150 mph hood ornament.

Idiocy knows not embarrassment.

This really shouldn't be a newsflash, but her sister doesn't have any talent either. And that goes for Brittany Spears too!
