President Bush granted THE WASHINGTON TIMES an extensive and exclusive interview late Tuesday, sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.
President Bush said yesterday that he doesn't "see how you can be president without a relationship with the Lord," but that he is always mindful to protect the right of others to worship or not worship.
Mr. Bush told editors and reporters of The Washington Times yesterday in an interview in the Oval Office that many in the public misunderstand the role of faith in his life and his view of the proper relationship between religion and the government.
"I think people attack me because they are fearful that I will then say that you're not equally as patriotic if you're not a religious person," Mr. Bush said. "I've never said that. I've never acted like that. I think that's just the way it is.

President Bush's policy on women in ground combat takes just four words to articulate: "No women in combat."
Despite extended tours of duties in Iraq for soldiers and an Army examination of women's roles, the president told editors and reporters of The Washington Times yesterday in an interview in the Oval Office that he has no intention of sending women into ground combat, a mission for which they are banned under Pentagon policy.

Yeah, they are nuts, total fringe freak wackos. As a Christian, having the right attitude toward people like that is something I wrestle a LOT with. I know we're supposed to pray for them. I know without a doubt that God loves them. But from my human perspective, they make it SO hard.

They must be confusing Bush with his dad, who actually did say that. And this American, apparently incapable of being patriotic because he doesn't believe, fought in a war under that twit.

Are you sure George H. W. Bush really said that? I had an online argument with a hardcore lib last summer and the only sources he could provide were veeery sketchy. I'm not saying it didn't happen, I just haven't seen any credible source for it.
Jefferson believed Jesus was a great and wise man. But this quote was in context of attacking Christianity as generally practiced, especially when embodied in organized religions.

There is no evidence that either of these men said these things. The quotes are most likely made up or misattributions (the first one is also often attributed to Samuel Adams).
What if we're both wrong and some other religion is right? Are you willing to gamble on eternity? To me it's like The Price Is Right, but I have several hundred doors to choose from, and either one, none, or all has salvation behind it.

The following exchange took place at the Chicago airport between Robert I. Sherman of American Atheist Press and George Bush, on August 27 1988. Sherman is a fully accredited reporter, and was present by invitation as a member of the press corps. The Republican presidential nominee was there to announce federal disaster relief for Illinois. The discussion turned to the presidential primary:
RS: "What will you do to win the votes of Americans who are atheists?"
GB: "I guess I'm pretty weak in the atheist community. Faith in God is important to me."
RS: "Surely you recognize the equal citizenship and patriotism of Americans who are atheists?"
GB: "No, I don't know that atheists should be considered as citizens, nor should they be considered patriots. This is one nation under God."
RS: "Do you support as a sound constitutional principle the separation of state and church?"
GB: "Yes, I support the separation of church and state. I'm just not very high on atheists."
UPI reported on May 8, 1989, that various atheist organizations were still angry over the remarks. The exchange appeared in the Boulder Daily Camera on Monday February 27, 1989. It can also be found in "Free Inquiry" magazine, Fall 1988 issue, Volume 8, Number 4, page 16.

That is the exact same "blurb" the lib sent me last summer. I noticed you did not provide a link, but considering I went down this road just this past summer, I'm guessing it's from an atheist activist website.
Let me know if I'm wrong.
