It's almost a complete confession of wrongdoing.

It's a lot to read..but I don't see the apology. (other than what Rather said on the air)

That's a major point. They can't bring themselves to say it was fake, a forgery, phony. If they said that, then the charge of political bias would stick. Their story is "competitive pressure to be first with the story," which is bunk.

Buckhead never claimed sole credit. It actually took a lot of people on a lot of sites to nail the coffin shut. It really wasn't over until the font experts proved it was a TrueType document, and that there was nothing in the 1970s that could produce the character spacing.

It is significant that not a single original 1970 document from any source -- military or civilian -- has been produced with a matching character spacing.

I should have been more careful with my title, I suppose. The panel says FR was one of the first. It was certainly that and I think more: I think it was the first and the heaviest and most continuous.

I've always loved the men in pajamas comment. First of all, it's totally sexist! Second, it shows you what a bunch of idiots this CBS team is: *if* anyone in pajamas can figure out this is a forgery, why can't they?

Dunno, actually. I'm not the most informed on this issue. I just wanted to tell the gang what the investigatory panel said about FR. For the history of what happened here, I'm just not that useful a source. Sorry.
