Funny you say that. In school I learned that McCarthy was a fanatic who conducted a Communist Man Hunt that was like the Salem Witch Trials. Infact, I can say that idea was reinforced.

If you haven't read it, you should take a look at Communist Goals from 1963, as elucidated in Cleon Skoun's book "The Naked Communist", which was also put into the congressional record at the time (I have validated it appears in the congressional record).

What always disturbs me is how many of these things have become a fait accompli.

While his methods may have been, ummm, extreme, his intent was honorable.
To identify the persons within the communist movement and shed light on the rats.
I'm having a braim freeze here, someone please tell me the name of the man in FDR's adminstration, Asst Sec. of State, who was later identified as a communist.
