I'm just sitting here, about 375 mi east of L.A. straight down I-10, staring at (now) sunny skies. I'm waiting for it to hit.
Has the Sepulveda dam overflowed yet? Or did they remember to pull out the drain plug this time? ;)
Sepulveda Reservoir overflow?!?!? Errh, uhm, has this happened before? They shut down Burbank Blvd. from Balboa to the 405 as per normal.
I remember getting "Morganized" in grade school!
I think this fellow did the afternoon drive? Did he used to call KHJ "Boss Radio?
Geez, I'm dating myself! Thanks for the memories!
Remember "Lake" Sepulveda in Feb 1992?
(I get it, you're joking ;)
no just some small parks a couple of swinfs and trees
"Sepulveda Reservoir overflow?!?!? Errh, uhm, has this happened before?"
Quite a few times in the 40s and 50s.
You aren't alone. Between KTLA and KHJ we heard all the 'hits' I guess. ;)
I still remember the horror when KHJ led the country with the 'All news, all the time' format.
It changed me.
Began to listen to FM KMET.
'Little bit o'heaven ninety-four point seven...'
LOL!
Here is what I do recall in that area: Woodley flooding badly and some people still insisting on driving on it from Sherman Way or torwards Sherman Way and then they floated and/or hoped for the best.
In fact I remember a poor man in his brand new Jeep Cherokee sitting in it as the water came up half way up the door. Very strange scene. He was sort of laughing about it, too.
We bought our 1400 sf home almost 6 years ago for $130k. A few months ago it appraised for $375k. Sure am glad we bought when we did...
The Mighty Met! :)
i remember in the 90s a flash flood roared down ventura county, carrying the homeless who slept in the flood plain, and rattlesnakes out to sea.
there were backpacks and sleeping bags afloat in the jetsam off shore.
