"We would like to retire in San Diego but we would have to live in a tent on the beach."

After recent events, you might want to reconsider that idea.

I live in the foothills just a few miles from Glendora and we got 4 inches of rain between 4:00 last night and this morning at 7:15 a.m.

He should be fine as long as he stays away from the foothills, any burn areas, avoids the beaches and the San Fernando Valley, he'll stay dry and safe.

Anybody trying to drive PCH into Malibu today, I can tell you already, that you need to cancel your plans.

I used to hate it when that route got shut down; I worked in Brentwood (West Los Angeles) and commuted north via the Sepulveda Impasse.....when the coastal commuters had to take the long way around, they'd join the already clogged 405 and we'd just inch along.

It sucked then, and I'm sure it sucks more now, two and a half years later.

Ahhh....KFI - I used to "Handel myself in the morning" (unless Bill got too political, then I'd hit the FM tab and listen to Robert W. Morgan)

I work in San Dimas (adjacent to Glendora) and live in Ontario, which is a few cities away. We had a flash flood warning from around 5:45 to around 11:45 last night. They weren't kidding either. It was raining cats and dogs here. I don't think Glendora at the western edge of the Pomona Valley was hit as hard though.

210 & 2 split is in Glendale for those unawares.

I just moved from Arcadia last year. For those who fuss that this isn't much rain, you have to consider the unique situation of Los Angeles. Everything is paved over. With pavement everywhere, water has nowhere to go. 4" in Los Angeles is probably the equivalent of 12" in rural Louisiana for the poster up thread.

Thanks for the list in your post. For those of us in the northwestern end of Ventura who haven't gone outside yet today, I appreciate the warning about the flooding in the Ventura river!

The Real Don Steele was diagnosed with lung cancer in May 1997 and he passed away in August 1997.

Tina Delgado is alive! Alive!

"Boss Radio Legend The Real Don Steele passed away in his sleep Tuesday morning, August 5th, 1997, at his home in the Hollywood Hills, after a short bout with lung cancer.
Steele had given up smoking in 1979. He was 61."

That's true Dogbyte. L.A. is not only paved over, but L.A. area is paved over a topsoil mostly comprised of a very high clay content, in comparison to most other parts of the country. This is high desert area, and rainfall is "normally" scant.

Santa Clarita residents are now standing by for a mandatory evacuation in some areas. Voluntary evacuation ongoing right now at an apartment complex near San Fernando Road in Santa Clarita. KFI AM 640

Great. Glad the information is relevant/helpful to you.

They're saying it's best not to go out unless you have to. This is not fun for those with serious cabin fever afflictions.

"Robert W. Morgan entertained the Los Angeles radio audience for three decades. His unique sense of timing, wit and charm earned him an enduring place of honor in the industry.

Twice named Billboard’s “Air Personality of the Year,” he was also honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

In 1965 he came to Los Angeles as the original morning “Boss Jock” on legendary 93/KHJ. His signature “Good Morgan!” awakened millions of listeners.

A measure of Robert W.’s popularity was an unparalleled 20 share in the Arbitron ratings.

He “Morganized” listeners at WIND/Chicago in 1972, then returned to KHJ/Los Angeles. He took the morning slot at KMPC in 1975, continuing his “morning magic” at MAGIC 106FM.

Robert’s remarkable career concluded at KRTH 101FM with one of the most competitive, topical and entertaining shows on the dial."

Robert W. Morgan was diagnosed with lung cancer in 1997 and he passed away on May 22, 1998.
