BRUNO/RORKE
We get concerns for kids playing there, and also perhaps the homeless or illegals trying to live somewhere in there.
Then the first rains clean out our sewers into the ocean, so the instant flush of filth into the near by beaches brings the warnings to no go swimming.
It's bad weather, they figure there are no swimmers, so we have no warnings about that to avoid bad press IMO.
LACORDS ---likely to be Los Angeles County operation roads department....
Residents of Los Angeles lakes should be alerted as the Lake may be reappearing..... or maybe El Mirage may suddenly have a water puddle show again....
I am just staying home today....did you get thet alert about the Prado Dam?? supposedly it is full and my overflow onto the 60 fwy?

Still mulling over whether I want to go out today.
My local condition is that the rain stopped. My forecast says it should be heavy and stay heavy through the morning.
I just took a good walk through the back yard in the grass and dirt to gage the saturation.
I sank nowhere and though there is lots of water, the ground seems real firm.
I live in Glenodra. We had some SERIOUS rain early this morning and again just before 10 AM PST. Hadn't seen that much rain in a long time. Light showers at the moment.
Not sure how the foothills are holding up. I mountain bike up there and they were in pretty bad shape even before all this rain...
Hm, wonder where the lake is (was) in Lake L.A.
update on 138 is no update at all:
11:31AM - DOT, PLS ROLL WHATEVER DISTRICT HANDLES THIS AREA, THANKS
Been checking my sites....it seems the Union Pacific line "Coast Line" in Gaviota has been washed into the Pacific Ocean....
Last night's Amtrak Pacific Starlight was turned back to San Luis Obispo after a track inspection revealed the right-of-way to be compromised.
We sold our little 2-BR house in West LA in 1959 for a mere $17 K. The same house was later sold in 2001 for $300K. Go figure! Where was that $$$ when I really needed it? But then again, I bought Xerox at $7 a share and sold it after it reached $14. Now that was dumb--it went to over $300 and split twice. Yikes! My neighbor did not sell his stock and stopped speaking to me, a mere peasant, while he rolled in the dough.
actually, around 1230am there were three different swift water rescues going on.....
We did well on residential real estate in the Twin Cities metro, too. Live with it.
KFI had a preliminary report of an avalanche but I didn't catch where. Thought I heard Mt. Wilson but that can't be right.
Wow, the message I am getting is don't take the train in the rain.
Avalanche, I thought all the snow was being melted by rains. That would be surprising.
This is going to cripple the region for a week!
But like I was reading in the Indio County gazette...the officials were just waiting to make repairs until everything is declared a disaster area....
PCH has slides in four or five places..... my dad lives up in one of those canyons....hope he doesnt get hit.....no one buys flood insurance. (and a mudslide is a flood)
Not surprised. I have actually seen it almost overflow the rim.
(January 9, 2005 - 11:45 a.m.) Several fm radio stations have been off the air since 9:30 a.m. this morning. First indication for the the cause of the disruption is the severe weather conditions on Mt. Wilson, home to a majority of stations.
"Wow, the message I am getting is don't take the train in the rain."
Don't take the "slow boat to china" ever.
After I crashed my airplane I took Amtrack from Glendale to Oceanside a few times and decided never again to get on one. The 3 hour drive on Friday afternoon was easier.
