I was under the impression that the executive branch is supposed to enforce the law even when it doesn't profit them.
The long delay in presenting the case means that the accused may walk because the DOJ's failure to act promptly (in violation of the 6th Amendment right to a speedy trial) "has injured his ability to present a defense."
Doesn't this apply when someone is actually charged with a crime?
I don't believe an indictment is the same thing.
