BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP)-Two of its most prominent members were gunned down recently, but that didn't stop the Iraq's Communist Party from holding a campaign rally in downtown Baghdad, with supporters waving red flags and shouting leftist slogans.

The Communist Party has been banned in Iraq for decades. All the same, I don't expect it to get many votes.
Communists in Iraq?!?
Well, in a perverse way, it makes sense.
Wasn't Leon Trotsky one of the original Communist bomb throwers? Why wouldn't these latter day Commies be welcomed with open arms by the terrorists roaming around over there?
Saddam's ru ling party was Socialist.
And Stalinist. It was Communist with an Arab nationalist orientation. The Communists were banned because they were a rival for power and their universal ideals ran counter to the Ba'ath vision of an Arab socialist order.
But he wasn't very nice to the commies. They suffered tremendously. And now they're playing by the rules in Iraq as a legitimate political party. The Iraqi communists are basically good people; at least, that's all I've seen of them. They're not like out-of-Iraqi Communists who just want war and death and terrorism in Iraq to spite America. They genuinely want a peaceful future.
Yeah, that's one thing the MSM wouldn't tell us about. I wonder why....hmmmmmmmm?????
And in their defense they admit who they are and they don't try to hide their beliefs from Iraqis. Contrast that with Democrats here who can't admit they believe in greater state control and socialism in front of the American people.
Sounds precisely like the situation in Nazi Germany. And, Hitler's opposition to the Communists has been spun by the Left as proof that he was an anti-Communist like you and I are anti-Communist.
If nothing else the commies are a positive for Iraq because they make people think about issues not ethnicity.
Why Naziism & Fascism are considered to be on the political right makes no sense to me. Both of them are socialist parties which support a massive increase in the size of government...how that that be considered as "right wing"???
I think the case is largely built on what I said above: Hitler was a Nazi; Hitler hated Communists; ergo, Nazism is the polar opposite of Communism! It's illogical, but it's illogical to say either Nazism or Fascism are of the right.
