The classic is avaialable new, online, for $ 6.95.
Great movie. It's like a really good Twilight Zone episode.
But the new version is so much more violent and vulgar... How could it fail to make money?!?
Have to admit I enjoy watching Hollywierd floundering around.
I saw the promos for this flick. Could tell then it was going to go nowhere.
I never seen the film, does it have a "twilight zone" style twist ending?
I'm interested in seeing it.
However, I'm gonna wait for it to hit the second-run theatres.
Amen to that!
I just watched the original on satellite over Christmas; this is the 2nd time I've seen it.
I think I'll skip the remake!
There is a really, really good reason why they call these movies "THE CLASSICS".....Hollywood needs to leave them alone.
This is one of my husbands all time favorites.
Some classics just should not be touched, that is why they are in the "Classic" catagory.
I just started to see promos for Kinsey. Another really great flick. Sure.
The original is a classic. I watched the trailer for the new one. It was obvious the new one would suck.
The good thing about this is that the cable movie channels are playing the original on a heavy rotation. I got to watch it again, uncut and without commercials.
What's ironic is the original FOTP was made by Robert Aldrich who was part of a bastion family of Eastern Liberalism. His grandfather Nelson Alddrich was a Senator from Rhode Island for 30 years. Where has the craftsmanship and artistry gone in mainstream filmmaking like this?

Look here to find out.
I took one look at the promos and immediatly refused to ever watch this movies.
Never mess with a Classic!
Another Hollywood flick that goes PC. The bad guys are now Chinese gun runners. The original flick had Ayyyrabs slitting the throats of the happless crew.
Went the same route as "Sum of all fears" and the just run "Smallpox" on F/X that had the terrorist as a white Christian male.
I wouldn't say a twist. But it keeps you in suspense. One motif I think Rod Serling used again and again was putting people in very stressful situations with other people, and then watching how they either keep it together or fall apart. This movie has that same feel.
Seriously. I suppose next they'll remake Casablanca or True Grit or maybe Rocky.
Percentage wise it still did better than oliver stoned.
