What about Denmark?
The False Prophet will cause the statue to speak. That of course is believable today, though when Christians read that prophecy in previous eras it might have seemed impossible. However, with machines now equipped with human voices, we now take that phenomenon as not a phenomenon at all.
The False Prophet will command those in the environs of the statue to bow down to it"
There is no statue. The scripture says "image."
The image speaks, not a statue. Your TV display talking images, so does your computer. TV and Internet images can reach billions simultaneously; one statue can't do that.
So, that is a good thing, right?
We don't know what form the mark will have for sure. I guess if its a literal stamp on your forhead you may be right. But if it's a personal identifer for shopping and so forth maybe not.
Good Christians was a relevant term.
Being born again means more to me than just saying so.
One must die to the world, to the material of the world, completely to be reborn.
I can only think of a couple of figures that may have done this completely, and know of no one including myself, that has.
To be sealed with the Holy Spirit, one must have complete and total FAITH.
Again, there are few of these, and the d'evil temptations have easily broken the strongest faith. A sealed garment is easily soiled from the inside.
I think those who won't take the Mark may be much like FREEPERS. Not all of us are religious, but we do know good from evil.
Yes. Peace of Faith.

There is already a group on Earth that marks their forehead with the symbol of 666 (that symbol is a book with 6666 paragraphs and the "mark" is obtained by bowing so low either to the book or by the authority of the book so often that a permanent contusion or scar emerges on their foreheads); more precisely, only the most "holy" of that group earn the mark. Those few "holy" leaders hold authority over neighborhoods, towns, and even whole regions already today. In some cases, those local leaders even do all of the buying and selling for their group in their area.
This group also has yet another interesting attribute: it lies profusely to its naive believers.
Which would make it a .................. statue of limitations.
(Sorry)
"A city known for 7 Mountains sounds like Rome. Rio De Janeiro has 7 hills, but never ruled the world. Rome is known as the 'CITY OF 7 HILLS' not 7 mountains though, so let's not use that reference as more than a curiosity."
Constantinople, now Istanbul, was built on seven hills and was the seat of the Eastern Roman Empire.
Come to think of it, Caesar's image was on the coin. As they say, "Money talks..."
Re: Seven hills vs. seven mountains
How high do you want to go?

That happens to me at work - I have QWERTY spelled backward on my forehead from falling asleep on the keyboard.
More seriously, can this group you describe be referenced somewhere? Obviously it's not the best-kept-secret group. Do they have a web page? Secret handshake? Are they the Sunshine Carpet Cleaners?
It's called the Western European Union.

Well .. Christians won't take the mark because the Christians won't be on the earth to take the mark. They will have been raptured out of the earth.
Hmmm. Al Gore invented the Internet and was able to reach millions of people when he was running for President, so...
Actually, the rapture isn't mentioned in the Bible. It was invented by an eighteenth century English clergyman.
