Kid Rock at Inaugural 'Shocking'
NewsMax.com ^ | Jan. 6, 2005 | Carl Limbacher

A scheduled appearance by vulgar rock-rapper Kid Rock at a Bush inauguration concert hosted by Bush daughters Jenna and Barbara has shocked conservative supporters.

The rapper’s lyrics often focus on the recreational nature of sex and send a message of female sexual exploitation. In 2000 he appeared in a porn film with well-known porn stars, and he was named the Sluttiest Male Celebrity by MTV.

According to Donald E. Wildmon, chairman of the American Family Association, the White House has sent a shocking statement to the millions of families who supported his re-election.

"Kid Rock is an inexcusable choice,” Wildmon said. "His music lyrics serve to teach our young men to disrespect women in a most vile, self serving manner. There's no compassionate conservatism in that philosophy.”

"Obviously, someone on the Presidential Inauguration Committee has made an extremely poor judgment call. The Committee should cancel this invitation immediately,” Wildmon said.

Kid rock was chosen to appear because he was a supporter of President Bush's re-election campaign.

Ok, you keep saying what I say, the only trouble is, I didn't say it.

Here is what I do say. Underage drinking is illegal. The reason it is illegal is because the people in their collective opinion say it should be.

They have been seen drunk. Yes I do think seeing a teenage girl drunk is not a good thing. Does it mean they are forever condemned? Of course not. That along with their choice in music is disappointing tho.

Of course there are people on this board who just love dope, booze, brutalizing women, and free sex. Of course anyone who thinks that wrong is "judgemental".

Wildmon as hypocrite, or extremist, or whatever ...

Perhaps so, but the more important question is: Where is Wildmon right and where is he wrong? Name-calling doesn't help us with this question.

And as I said before, Wildmon isn't the issue here. The issue is the merits of this individual situation.

The base deserves special consideration

That sounds dangerously close to "special treatment" my friend. It's also a long way from a veto, which is also not warranted.

And to all of those "Stop Kid Rock From Performing" people - I guess you'll be calling for Rush Limbaugh's invitation to be revoked as well...? A little bit of prescription drug abuse that may have violated some laws surely cannot be forgiven?? Even if he says the things that a lot of us agree with we sure cannot allow such a scofflaw to soil the inaug. with an appearance???? (SARCASM)

I used the term "us" imprecisely. What I meant was, the Bush people aren't obligated to invite them.

Also, I'm quite sure that many folks with less than sterling values probably worked just as hard to re-elect the president as y'all did. But I guess that doesn't count unless you have the "right" morals.

Please understand that I am not trashing you, but you also need to understand that you are not better.

Ahhh yes what is Jesus taught and the value oriented people preach?

Forgiveness?
Decency?
Love for your brother?

Nahhhhh... It teaches.

Wahhhh!!! You started it!!!

I started it by saying that you did not own the base... hummm obviously that deserved a condescending response....

Yep I started it.... "bud"....

Fine, and I can say many of the same things about myself.

But the issue here is completely different: What message is sent when this band performs at a serious event like a presidential inaugural?

Making those of us who take a "puritanical" position on this one out to be prigs is both unfair and beside the point.

"Most of us in this thread are members of the religious right and we're horrified by the zealot attitudes that you and F16Fighter exhibit. You guys are not the religious right - you're party of some cultic offshoot."

Thanks for the ping. Oh that's right, you probably "forgot."

To say your characterization is "dumb" just wouldn't do justice to your post.

I can help you solve your problem though...

The echo you hear richoceting between your ears is the sound of a hollow sphere.

Btw, say "hi" to Spock for me.

"Underage drinking is illegal. The reason it is illegal is because the people in their collective opinion say it should be."

I don't seem to recall a vote on the drinking age. Instead, federal funding for highways was withheld from States who delayed the federally mandated rise in the drinking age. Why is it an 18 year old can serve his country and not come back and have a beer legally? Does "collective opinion" think this is right?

PS - If the drinking age had remained at 18 the twins never would have landed in the papers for doing what the majority of college students do.

"Oh, oh, oh I support the troops, I just don't support this unnecesary war" BULLSHIT....

Typical liberal talking point, sickens me. I have had enough with the people who share the above sentiment that you have written. These people are the ones who never supported our Military, they are full of it.

I support our troops, support their mission and support President Bush.

And I think it is great that Kid Rock will be in D.C. for the Inaugural

The issue is Kid Rock playing at the inauguration. As countless posters have stated, KR loves our troops and busts his ass for them, and our troops love him. The moralists' who would not have him perform and counter-productive to the republican cause. You must allow us to appeal to the yut of today by letting us use the tools which are effective and hip, and KR is that.I kinda enjoy seeing the moralists busting a gut over this, that will also appeal to today yut, our complete rejection of your busybody nonsense.

Since neither of us actually know what he will be performing I guess we really don't know what message he's sending out.

He's not actually performing at the Inauguration - he's performing at a party afterwards - a HUGE difference. You don't think there's not going to be any "merry-making" at any of those parties?

If memory serves, he was very generous to all affected by the attack on the USS Cole.

Underage drinking is illegal. The reason it is illegal is because the people in their collective opinion say it should be.

The people in their collective wisdom keep abortion legal as well. They don't always get it right. Violating a law does not make one a bad person - how many of us speed on a regular basis? (This isn't "a two wrongs make a right" or "everybody does it" defense - I'm just pointing out the weakness of the point.)

They have been seen drunk. Yes I do think seeing a teenage girl drunk is not a good thing. Does it mean they are forever condemned? Of course not. That along with their choice in music is disappointing tho.

You see, that the thing, most people just don't see it as a big deal. A teenage girl getting drunk will hardly shock anyone - its part of growing up. Maybe not for everyone, but for most. It says nothing about a person's character. I'm happy for them that they enjoyed their and had fun during their college years.

You're disappointed in their music choice? Who would you rather they listen too?

Of course there are people on this board who just love dope, booze, brutalizing women, and free sex. Of course anyone who thinks that wrong is "judgemental".

What does drinking have to do with dope (who still calls it that?), brutalizing women and free sex? Those are all independent issues. The fact that you would associate those items proves my previous point.

I liked your post. Just be assured I'm not tossing the stones in my glass house. I'm trying to get some of the folks to chill a bit. I don't like Kid Rock, but I do like several R&R bands that make him sound like a mousekateer. Cheers!

He may be ignorant of a few things, but his heart is right.
