A scheduled appearance by vulgar rock-rapper Kid Rock at a Bush inauguration concert hosted by Bush daughters Jenna and Barbara has shocked conservative supporters.
The rappers lyrics often focus on the recreational nature of sex and send a message of female sexual exploitation. In 2000 he appeared in a porn film with well-known porn stars, and he was named the Sluttiest Male Celebrity by MTV.
According to Donald E. Wildmon, chairman of the American Family Association, the White House has sent a shocking statement to the millions of families who supported his re-election.
"Kid Rock is an inexcusable choice, Wildmon said. "His music lyrics serve to teach our young men to disrespect women in a most vile, self serving manner. There's no compassionate conservatism in that philosophy.
"Obviously, someone on the Presidential Inauguration Committee has made an extremely poor judgment call. The Committee should cancel this invitation immediately, Wildmon said.
Kid rock was chosen to appear because he was a supporter of President Bush's re-election campaign.
Lol, just beautiful....
The President is about to embarrass himself with this move.
Argue your point, instead of being a part of the thread police and accusing folks of being "disruptors."
Otherwise, bug off.
Lol, n-a-s-t-y...
I think you're right on both counts. It's dismaying to see so many FReepers blowing this off as no big deal.
I would add that one's opinion of Don Wildmon is irrelevant here.
Supporting Bush or the "troops" is no excuse for moral decadence. Morally decadent bands shouldn't have any part whatsoever in the inaugural festivities.
Once again, the Bush crowd is disconnected from the president's base, a further sign of the president's weakness. A truly great president, who truly understood the crisis of our times and how we must respond to it, would never have this happen to him.
If you like scum which is 10 times worse than their scum, I can see why you aren't complaining.
"If they like Kid Rock, so be it."
That is not the issue. The inaugural doesn't belong to them, or indeed to the Bush family. It belongs to the American people, and especially to Bush's supporters.
Acts at the inaugural shouldn't clash so conspicuously with the base's values.
I certainly don't think they are dingbats but they went to public school here with my kids and I do know who they are.
A great point which to my knowledge has NOT been brought up on either of the two KR threads.
Outstanding!
I wanna be a *cowboy*, baby...
there are literally dozens of inaugural parties. The President is not handpicking the entertainment for all of them.
A Rock & Roller is going to be gross & carry baggage, it goes with the profession. But that does not mean I don't want Kid Rock, Ted Nugent, Gene Simmons, Alice Cooper, etc, etc excluded. It's better that they are on our side than the demonrats.
It was only Nancy Reagan who complained about the Beach Boys-----she didn't know who they were.Pretty funny----she didn't want Rock and Roll so didn't want the Beach Boys.
I didn't challenge that. I challenged your blanket statement that you're not sure if they've ever been to church when there have been pictures of them IN church and I challenged your tone and the way you referenced them when you said "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" as if they hadn't made serious career choices.
You've got a short memory, pal. The evidence suggests otherwise:

You forced me to listen to that song, which I have in mp3 format.
You haven't seen enough, then. There's nothing to indicate that and everything showing just the opposite.
you don't own the base and the base is not exclusive to your interest.
I'm GLAD that KR is gonna perform. I'd much rather have him performing than say, Eminem. If this ticks off the Puritans, then more power to him. Some folks are getting entirely too big for their britches, and it's starting to make me mad.
I'll take a conservative with a potty mouth over a "clean" liberal any day."
I LOVE your post, exnavychick.
One must be fascist about enforcing their 'faith' on the unwilling, or they are NOT 'truly conservative'.
</sarcasm >
I'm sorry. I was mistaken...
Doubling your med isn't any excuse for the incoherent babbling of your posts.
Maybe you've ingested the contents of the bottle?
