By TOM KERTSCHER tkertscher@journalsentinel.com Posted: Jan. 4, 2005 Racine - A 22-year-old woman who coached a private volleyball club and briefly coached at a Racine County high school has been charged with having sex with one of her 16-year-old players.
Jennifer L. Bradley of the 6000 block of Leeward Lane in Caledonia was charged with one felony - sexual assault of a student by an instructional staff member, which carries a prison term of up to six years - and five misdemeanors. She made her initial appearance Tuesday in Racine County Circuit Court.
According to a criminal complaint:
Bradley and the boy had a sexual relationship between June 12 and Sept. 4 while she coached a private club that he played for called Next Level Volleyball.
On Aug. 16, Bradley was hired as an assistant girls volleyball coach at Case High School, where the boy attends school and plays volleyball.
Bradley was suspended Sept. 23, after the allegations surfaced, and she has since resigned from her school position, Linda Flashinski, spokeswoman for the Racine Unified School District, said in an interview. She was not a teacher at the school, Flashinski said.
The complaint says the boy's mother told a Racine County sheriff's investigator that Bradley let him use her cell phone, let him drive her car though he was not licensed and let him use her credit card so that he could play poker and make bets on a Web site.
The mother said her son's grades dropped from A's and B's to D's and F's and that he has run away from home at least three times since being confronted about the relationship, the complaint says.
The mother had suspected that her son was having an affair with Bradley after she found a computer message. She thenbegan taping telephone conversations between Bradley and her son, the complaint says.
The boy told a sheriff's investigator that he had had sex with Bradley about five or 10 times.

Oops! Sounds like this woman invaded this young person's privacy as defined in recent court rulings. It's a good thing he had caring adults like this coach to depend on when this mother character started defying ACLU edict.
Must have changed it since I was in high school in CA. At that time, a drivers license qualified as a "learner's permit".
Of course, at that time there was also a dual standard with different ages for males and females; voting age was 21, and a few other differences.
(BTW "CA" is also the medical abreviation for cancer. Coincidence? I think not.)

So many people make jokes and breezily assume that women molesting boys is some kind of "victimless" crime. I have read otherwise.

"...Men are, indisputably, responsible for the majority of child sexual abuse, but women too are perpetrators of this crime. According the the lowest estimate, women are the perpetrators in 14 percent of cases involving boys and 6 percent of cases involving girls.
Many clinicians who specialize in treating incarcerated male sex offenders believe the figures may be much higher, because so many of the male rapists and pedophiles they treat were victims of child sexual abuse. For instance, Dr. Nicholas Groth, a leading authority on male sex offenders, reports that 31 percent of the incarcerated offenders he studies were sexually abused as children; 41 percent of the abusers were female. Similarly, a 1989 study of 170 male juvenile sex offenders found that 37 percent had been victims of sexual abuse; nearly one-third of their abusers were female.

But of course, the punishment for female molesters is usually a joke. Nevertheless, being as this sort of thing seems to make the headlines every few weeks, that may be changing.
This is the third story today! Just damn...
This what happens when Parents sub-contract out the raising and education of their kids to "professionals" whether that "professional" is a "coach" or "teacher(educrat)". The schools and other organizations have lost a lot of crediblity when things like this happen.
Just as long as you stop and think about it, I know that at that age I could not have handled a baby. I have had such an awesome life and been all over the world, which is something I would not have had the ability to do if I had gotten pregnant. I have brothers that will never live 1/2 the life I have lived because of personal choices. So all I can say is choose well......... Is it cold there????
nah its about 65 right now :)
its nice here during the day too :)
My parents raised my brother and I to make our own decisions. They gave us as much responsiblity as we could handle. There were, of course, right by our side if we needed help, but they wanted us to make mature reasoned decisions.
By the time we were 16 we had made some doozies so both of us had some rudimentary reasoning skills by that age...
Lucky kid.
Adolesence can be tough on teenagers. I would not expect that having sex with a 22 year old to be the cause of all this teen's ills. If he were 12 or 13, that's different. But at 16, I would bet that the majority of his peers have lost their virginity, and probably with 16 year old girls.
All told, the woman abused her position and deserves to lose her job, but she did not sexually abuse this boy.
No biggie..they could easily meet at springbreak and elsewhere. They could get married then what would people have to say?
What is this new phenomenon of women seducing boys? Is it the Mary Kay La Tourneau Syndrome? That's what happens when you give a mere wrist-slap for child rape.
Why do I always breathe a sigh of relief when I find out that it was a heterosexual thing?.....even though the relationship was wrong.
Sure seems to be hard for young female teachers to find men their own age who can get it up
When I was in HS back in the mid '70's the 23 year old shop teacher was dating a 16 year old female classmate. They were married about 2 months after she graduated and have been married since. Everyone new about their dating but it was kept guiet.
I also know for a fact a guy on my track team also had sex with our Spanish teacher because another student watched it...she was probably 30-35 years old at the time and divorced. She may have had others. She would have the male students at studyhall go home and cut her grass. She would leave the gas can and gas outside. Again mahny people knew about it but it was kept quiet.
