I don't get the impression that Kerry is stumping for 2008, rather he seems to be stumping to take over the power role that Ted Kennedy fills as one-time Presidential Candidate/Senior Democrat. Ted is getting pretty old and one of his many acoltyes will take over eventually.

"... I'm here to make judgments..."

You lost a**hole! You don't get to make judgements about anything. All you can do is be a traitorous loser, and whine about it!

Kerry should don a flak jacket, hire a camera crew, and plunge into the fracas. Hell, a war hero such as he could settle this little dust-up in oh, say, four months?

What follows is an excerpt from John F. Kerry: The Complete Biography by the Boston Globe Reporters Who Know Him Best. , (Boston Globe) bio of Kerry... took not long to find the cite as I anticipated:

"Three months after hostilities ceased, John Kerry attended a meeting of local Democrats in Gloucester, Massachusetts, and conceded. “I’m not convinced,” he said, “given the nature of Saddam Hussein,” that a peaceful resolution to the Kuwait invasion had been possible. Then he attacked Bush for leaving Hussein in power: “This administration, having likened Saddam Hussein to Hitler, having committed troops in the war against him, actually sided with Hussein in the aftermath of the war. That is a disgraceful chapter.”

Now, a power vacuum in the region in the early '90's was a more than intractable problem; no less today yet our CIC took it on, lessons learned from the past. Today Kerry lambastes W for disbanding Iraqi forces; then for not disbanding forces.

Would someone please slice him off a piece of the "you can have it & eat it too" cake?

Kerry's answer to the charge of being contrarian would surely be his own condemnation. What use has this country for such?

"Now, it's a different time and different set of judgments that have to be made.

Riiight Kerry, anyone who served sooooo much time in the service; gathered sooooo many medals in soooooo short a time, has the right to make judgments. You've made yours in spades and America made hers more clear than spades! America voted for George Bush!

What an obnoxious, arrogant looser! And he wonders why he lost!

Troops, we’re sorry you had to listen to this ugly American – as if fighting the known enemy weren’t enough……

>> the decision by former U.S. occupation leader Paul Bremer's to disband the Iraqi army and purge the government of former members of Hussein's Baath Party

In postwar Germany, Patton was heavily criticized for employing members of Hitler's National Socialist Party -- that is, for doing exactly what Kerry now recommends. If it was bad for Patton to do, why is it good for Kerry to do?

I have a serious bad feeling about this.

All of his demoralizing comments aside, .....................what the heck is he doing over there?

I hope there is a shadow over there watching this guy. Considering his shaded history, I do not trust this guy one bit!!!!!

Two thoughts occur:

First, this is an absolutely unconscionable act. For him to say these things in a foreign country is bad enough. For him to do so in a country where our troops are in contact is designed to undermine their support for their commander in chief and is traitorous. That they saw through him before the election and will certainly do so now is the only saving grace, here.

Second, this is the liberal definition of "support our troops", and it's a definition that they don't understand meets the traitorous definition above. You can't support the troops while undermining support for their mission, no matter how 'fraudulent' you think that mission is. If you undermine the troops' sense that they are doing the Right Thing for the Right Reasons, you creat doubt in them -- and self-doubt can be deadly in combat.
