MSNBC is now reporting that up to 6 other senators (1 possible republican) will give statements of support for contesting the election. There were no names given. Barbara Boxer is confirmed to be the only senator on record to say she is now going to contest the election along with Conyers and a few others from congress.
The report went on to say that the debate (if all 6 come on board) will only be about 30 minutes, due to the 5 minute rule per senator. The report also said that Bush's victory his not in jepordy.
I still think the media may eat crow on this but anyone have any thoughts?
Two others come to mind beside Chaffee -- McCain and Snowe.
Leahy is working hard to get a soundbite for the 6 o'clock news by asking assinine questions/irrelevant hypotheticals.
One Republican?
Could it be the "Japanese Ace" One of few American pilots to have lost 5 A/C in training and combat, and become a pilot and USNA graduate only because his father and grandfather were both Admirals?
Could it be John "I'm not really as crazy as I look, I think" McCain?
Frist actually said he wouldn't go nuclear if they "cooperated".
So far it doesn't look like they're in a cooperating mood.
Here is the Washington Post story from a few minutes ago:

Only mentions Boxer. I think MSNBC info is from Keith Olberman who wrote that he had been making calls himself last night.
Anybody who claim his favorite quote is by Jon Stewart is not somebody I want to be liked by anyway.
Frist went to the disaster site. I can't believe he is absent today.
Oh please, I hope they do.
Get it all on videotape!!!!
Remember how powerful the Kerry "I voted for the 87 Billion before I voted against it" comment was, especially since it was in his own words, on TV!!!
McCain .. Nope
Snowe .. possible, but I doubt it
IF this is true ... more likely it's Chaffee
And a little quarter mile walk from their office to their parking assignment wouldn't hurt either.
This is going to have wonderful blowback on them.
if you are conservative, there isnt anything offensive by not being a Republican or even a Democrat of the Zell Miller ilk.
You see, it isnt logical for McCain to do this. He would alienate the very people he is going to suck up too for the next 4 years, i.e. the Bush supporters.....
Right. An earlier visit would have been better. Of course, it's a GOOD thing that Kerry isn't present. (When has he ever been in the past year and a half? Yet collected his salary anyway....I'm angry that other Senators allowed him to get away w/this unlawful act.)
Don't forget Susan (please appoint Liberman to replace Ridge) Collins.
Any Republican to challenge Bush should be appointed Ambassador to Iraq, with an office in Fallujah.
I am predicting "blowback".
Who, Spector? Snowe? McCain?
Just damn.
If you want on the list, FReepmail me. This IS a high-volume PING list...
I wish Bush would pull a 'toon and show them there FBI files. Except President Bush is way too honorable to stoop that low.
