Al-Zarqawi captured in Iraq - (Al-Jazeera picked it up)
Al-Jazeera ^ | 1 hour ago | Al-Jazeera

Abu Mus'ab Al Zarqawi, on whom the U.S. put a bounty of US$10 million, has been arrested in the Iraqi city of Baakuba, the Emirate newspaper al-Bayane reported on Tuesday citing Kurdish media.

According to Al-Bayane’s correspondent in Iraq, the report on Al Zarqawi’s arrest was also reported by the Kurdish media, the first to announce Saddam’s seizure.

However, no official report on arresting Al Zarqawi, declared by the U.S. occupation authorities as its "target number one" in Iraq has yet emerged.

The real name of Al-Zarqawi, 38, Jordanian is Ahmad al-Khalayleh.

Al Zarqawi’s armed group's has divided Iraq into several emirates. It’s independent subdivisions at a strength of 50 to 500 fighter operate in Fallujah, Al-Qaim, Diala, and Samarra.

Okay, okay....its me this time. And after complaining. But anyway, this one is Al-Jazeera. They are pretty tight with the folks in the know as we all know. The question is, are they trying to hype up the false story so they can knock us back....or do they know something.

I deserve it after ranting about these threads earlier. But I was seduced to the dark-side by Al-Jazz. What can I say.

I'd say the latter. Al-Jazeera wouldn't risk lowering the moral of the other killers (if only for a couple of days) because they're all on the same team. Besides, how would their saying, "Americans have Al-Zarqawi.........just kidding" knock us back?

I saw the one last night too. I would really like to believe this one is true, but given the source, I'm going to wait until the MSM picks it up. I pray that it's true!

Al Zarqawi has been captured more times than Arafat died.

This story is so persistent, there must be something to it.

I wonder if they're going to announce Zarqawi's capture at 1:00pm on Thursday right as John Conyers stands up to protest the Ohio vote.

Looking at this report, I'd say we probably have captured him and Al-Jazeera is worried that we will interrogate him and find out the names and locations of others in his gang. So Al-Jazeera is putting out this info to warn the other thugs in his gang to stay low and move to a new location. Our approach should be to deny his arrest and continue the interrogation. When we've obtained all the information we can get and we've captured some of his associates, then announce his capture. I wouldn't expect any announcements from us for at least several days. Nothing is quite what it appears to be in Iraq--now if only the dumb liberal news media understood that concept.

You mean to tell me, Al-Bayane's reporting this?!

The paper of record among microscopic, unpronounceable emirates, sheikdoms and sultanates in the Persian Gulf??!!

Why wasn't I apprised of this development sooner???!!!

(Eye roll.)

From Drudge earlier today:

U.S. military and intelligence sources are denying print and broadcast reports that terrorist Abu-Musab al-Zarqawi has been arrested in Iraq, MSNBC reported Tuesday.

MSNBC said senior U.S. military and intelligence sources told it the reports are not true. A newspaper in the United Arab Emirates, al-Bayane, reported in its Tuesday edition that the Jordanian-born terrorist had been arrested in Baqouba, Iraq. Iraqi Kurdistan radio also reported the arrest of al-Zarqawi.

The U.S. military in December said al-Zarqawi likely is in the Baghdad area.

See, we're denying it already. Deny, deny....while we interrogate and shake the facts loose from his evil little mind.

Waiting for an honest piece of information from Debka is like waiting for a crumb to fall from a misers dinner table.

Methinks there's more afoot here than meets the eye.

Let's think...what would be to our benefit to keep his capture under wraps? What does AQ or AJ get out of the news?

The only things I can think of are...
A: We nabbed him, but want to confirm it's REALLY him.
B: We nabbed him but don't want the Islamic Terrorists to know because we are interrogating him. Perhaps we are very close to another high value target.
C: We're involved in some kind of stand-off.
D: We DON'T have him but want the terrorists to THINK we have him.
X: The whole thing is disinfo donkey-doo.

LoL

This story is so persistent, there must be something to it.

On the other hand you know how incestuous the press is, they are all feeding on each other.

If he was captured the only reason to keep it quite is because the Iraqi's have him singing like a canary.

It would have to be the Iraqis, cuz we don't do that kind of thing. Nope. Thats our story and I'm sticking with it.....

I forgot that the Iraqis are interrogating him too and their methods are likely to be quicker and more effective than ours. He could be singing to the Iraqis as sweetly as Streisand at a DNC fundraiser. There's no hurry here--let him sing the entire opera: one terrorist aria after another filled with crescendos of names and locations.
