At $30 billion and counting, I don't think Bill Gates is worrying. Reading threads from many freepers I see a trend where they are switching to Firefox.

Blake? That's a first name for someone?

I'm afraid he's got a LOT of catching up to do. Microsoft has thousands of products that are used all over the world. This guy has 1. Most of those are runinng it under, you guessed it, Windows. But hey, good luck on the venture.

It's not going to kill IE.

The simple fact is that there are a lot of web based ASPs that require IE. My company has an application that I have to use, and it simply will NOT work with anything but IE. I've tried Netscape, Firefox, Mozila, Opera, and Conqueror (sp?).

Nothing but IE will work.

So I use IE for that and WindowsUpdate. Firefox for everything else.

downloaded it recently. Love it!

I wonder why MS made it so difficult to manage "favorites"? They made it work differently than their own design for exploring the computer. Firefox bookmarks work just like that - an obvious and intuitive way that MS just didn't think about?!?

Also, what's with MS that you can't disable popups? Why did they design explorer so that others can take control of your window??!? It's so stupid!

I am a firefox man now.

I also downloaded google desktop search. It's like, DUH!!! What is wrong with MS that their own OS' search feature sucks wind, but google makes one that kicks butt?

I use Firefox for going through email because it is very fast but use Internet Explorer when working on Webpages, graphics, javascript, etc as Firefox doesn't seem to work with all of them.

Firefox is catching on faster than an urban legend. Everyone I know who is even remotely computer savvy has switched - and is loving it, especially with all the tweeks that have been made available here at freerepublic and elsewhere.

It doesn't format hotmail very well, and I am not all that pleased with some of my printouts, but it is a small inconvenience.

Firefox fails in almost every site that I try to use it -- anything with fancy scripting.

It also made itself the default browser and I can't get IE back as default -- even after clicking that "Have IE check if it is the default" box.

I just started on Firefox, and I was not pleased to see that without asking you it creates vacant bookmarks for porn sites. With subcatogories such as FETISH, etc.

Eh. I downloaded firefox, and didn't really see any improvement over Netscape, unless you consider freezing up everytime I tried to download a file an improvement.
