...said Tuesday he wouldn't change the Senate's filibuster rule at the start of the 109th Congress...

Hopefully, the three words in bold are the operative words.

Lord, God, please give Frist sleepless nights haunted with destructive results of wimpiness in this matter until he get some testicles and does the right thing. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Any care to join in a similar prayer of agreement?

I'm sorry .. this is not a CAVE by Frist .. this is an opportunity for the dems to show their true selves to the public. Frist will give the dems the chance to do what's right - and then when the dems don't - the dems will have no legs to stand on when the nuclear is levied. The dems will still whine about it .. but it won't have any teeth.

Remember .. Frist takes his direction from the President! Frist is not a lone wolf out there doing whatever he wants. Lott lost the position because he would not follow the President's direction.

Freeper alert -

We must remind the following what happened to Tommy Boy; Ben Nelson, Nebraska; Mark Dayton, Minnesota; former Klansman Robert C. Byrd, West Virginia; Kent Conrad, North Dakota; Jeff Bingaman, New Mexico; and Bill Nelson, Florida.

All are from red states and up for re-election in 2006. James Dobson has targeted them as well. NO ONE and I mean NO ONE, esp. Tommy Boy thought he could ever lose being re-elected. West Va. went red by 7 points this year.

Here in PA we will be watching Specter.

Between that and the caving in on the indictment thing in the house, the RINOS are running the show. The Republicans are wimps, man. It mAkes a person not want to worry up on politics. I'm getting to the point where I feel the politicians are all liars and cowards. The Republicans are cowards. If they keep it up, I'm gonna stop voting for them. Why go to the polls if they don't fight for anything when they get elected? They freaking surrender. It's pretty damn demoralizing.

townhall.com, Robert Novak, March 11, 2002, After Pickering, what?

The remaining question is whether Republicans have the courage to implement secret retaliatory plans to effectively close down the Senate. Those plans are privately called "going nuclear."

===

NRO, Bryon York, May 9, 2003, Senate Republican leaders searching for a way to break the deadlock over judicial nominations have decided to forego the so-called "nuclear option"

Let me offer a different and more optimistic view: Frist opens with a "let's work together" plea which, when once again violated by the D's, results in a "more in sorrow than in anger" application of the so-called nuclear option.

Wait and see....

Frist did not completely rule out a change to Rule XXII in the future--"I reserve the right to propose changes … and do not acquiesce to carrying over all the rules from the last Congress,

Again, this is nothing. The headline is bogus. But Freeper crybabies do so love to cry, so mark this down as another successfully pathetic thread.

NOW Are the people finally going to understand how this "Two-Party Cartel" works. There will be NO true conservative Supreme Court when GW leaves - Guaranteed - period - end of story. These dungheaps in Congress are TOTALLY owned & bought by the elites. Peal one layer off & the next scum layer comes to the top. Put 85 (R)s in the Senate & 33 will turn RINO. Guaranteed again. Only when you provide a viable 3rd party will anything ever change.

No! It's not a cave. He implies he will vote for the rule change if needed later. Give him a chance.

Frist is seeking to use the democraps obstructionism against them in 2006 ... at the expense of having real Constitutionalist appointed, but then Frist doesn't give a hoot in hell for what is right only what increases political power. He's disgustingly transparent!

I called it this morning like so many of us here on this forum. GWB never had any intentions of radically changing the course of the judiciary in this nation because it would go against the status quo and the elitism that he represents. Without an activist court certain segments of our population couldn't do what they want and get away with it. Would a conservative court or a constructionist allow a President to essentially enter the USA into trade treaties without applying Constitutional measures? I think not and with a weak and liberal court the elite can do what they damn well please and get away with it.

"Last Congress, Senate Democrats worked with the President to approve 204 judicial nominees, rejecting only 10 of the most extreme."

Bull Streisand!! They didn't reject the nominees (who were not extreme anyway). They blocked them from a vote. If they had allowed a vote, the nominees would have won overwhelmingly because many democrats who were willing to hide behind a filibuster would not have been willining to go on record with a NO vote against highly qualified minority and women jurists. The fact that the democrats are already putting out this kind of partisan BS is proof that a rule change is needed immediately. They do not intend to allow any reasonable judges on the highest of the appellate courts to receive a confirmation vote at all.

This is no big surpriose. It's the same bunch of spineless wimps more concerned with feathering their own nests than in serving the people who elected them.
