Wow! That's beautiful!
Sure do wish it was in the wardaddy family now. ;o)

Speaking of names (you're right...they all have one ;o),
the ONE in Meridian is Merrehope.
It was Sherman's headquarters, and that's the only reason
it still stands.

yes....the Yankees were rather punitive in the Deep South. and a lot of them just burned and some died of neglect. I have over a dozen books on old South landmarks and homes. University Press has done a number by a lady from Tupelo...Mary Carol Miller Amazon carries all her books....they are great. My paternal grandpa's homesite in jackson is now recognized but it's a seminary lyceum now

I frolicked as a lad on those steps and on that lawn.....Gone Are The Days....course it's surrounded by injun country now.
