Looking forward to that 2007 Hall of Fame vote. Gwynn should be a unanimous selection on his first attempt -- in fact, I've said for some time that he was the best player in the modern (post-1967) era.

Ripken should be unanimous. Gwynn was excellent, but for a single's hitter, he would have nailed it by hitting .400. Still, he's happy in life and a sure first balloter.

Bench and Schmidt were the best at the respective positions all-time. There are lots of better players than Gwynn since then. Lack of both power and speed mark Tony down for an outfielder. Even so, he is definitely Hall-worthy.
