Will the crowd of rescuers make any effort to find the man's wife? Or have they got more important things to do?
I would think it more important to help all the people that are in need there. They should just help those starving by making meat balls out of the dolphins, that would be better investment for all this effort.
Can the starving locals eat them?
Let's see: possibly 400,000 humans dead and probably 10 times that number dislocated, but let's use our scarce resources to save a couple of dophins. PETA triumphs again, right here on FR!
Unfortunately, there are many who will place a higher priority on these animals than the people who need help, especially in the west.
Unfortuantely, there are many here on FR who will place no priority *at* *all* on rescuing these critters.

What makes you think they didn't try?
Awful as it is, by this point anyone still missing is probably no longer alive. It probably makes them feel a little better to actually be able to save a life after so much death, even if the lives aren't human.
Reminds me of the search dogs in the WTC - they got so depressed after finding body after body that they started to not want to work. Live volunteers would have to hide in the rubble and let themselves be found to keep their spirits up.
For this reason, I'm cutting them some slack on this one...
LQ
yeah ... save a dolphin for how many THOUSAND$$$$$ and how many people will die as a result?
The sickening stupidity of the political machines - It is politicians since they are the only ones who want this type of publicity - peta/elf/alf/aspca are all leftist political machines.
Death to humanity (except their kind)!
Agreed. After all the death I am sure they are more than happy to save some lives, even dolphin lives, then to let them die without doing anything.
Sometimes humans do things because they have a good heart and they want to help.
Considering the situation?
No, I would place no importance on saving these animals until I KNEW I couldn't help PEOPLE any more than was already going on.
People rate mor than animals. Period.
Dolphis are way cool, but people are more important. There's no time for Flipper right now. Sorry.

None. Zip.
They are squirrels that swim. Clams with eyes.
