ST. CLOUD -- In Iraq, a baby named Mustafa has a shot at becoming a man thanks to a few quick breaths from a Minnesota medic on Christmas.
Army Staff Sgt. Shawn Dowling shared the tale in an e-mail with her family. The message was later posted on the family's Web site.
Dowling, a Richmond, Minn., native and a 1999 Rocori High School graduate, was supposed to spend Christmas visiting military camps around the city of Baqubah, which is about 40 miles northeast of Baghdad.
"I grumbled as I stepped outside to the rain and mud, fumbled to the shower, made my way back and drank my fresh-ground coffee," she wrote.
The 24-year-old was among 30 soldiers who piled into six vehicles and headed toward Baqubah. But 20 minutes into the trip, a truck overheated, and the group stopped at an Iraqi National Guard checkpoint.
Seconds later, an Iraqi couple clutching 15-month-old Mustafa ran toward the soldiers.

Amen. Let's see this story on the MSM.
Thanx.
Sorry. Thanx for the post. My mind ,my mind. Is it just not awake yet, or leaving me stranded?
it's OK. I don't let my mind wander outside alone.
This young woman did what she was trained to do. In so doing, she saved a precious life. Those young parents will never forget this soldier. Never. The young soldier will never forget this Christmas either when she breathed life back into a baby that had no idea of war, hate, fighting, Iraq, America, nothing. One day her parents will tell her of the brave young American soldier who was a hero that day. God bless her. These are the stories the MSM should be reporting on but it's a good story so...why would they?
