RUSH: Chris in Danielsville, Pennsylvania, as we start on the phones today. Welcome, sir, great to have you with us.

CALLER: Hello, sir. Happy New Year.

RUSH: Oh, it's a female! I'm sorry, nice to have you with us.

CALLER: That's okay.

RUSH: Apologize for that.

CALLER: That's okay. I'm a second time caller. I was the lady that called you about feeling bad, or guilty for voting for Arlen Specter --

RUSH: Oh, I remember that, yes.

CALLER: -- and I followed your advice and it helped me.

RUSH: Thank you so much. I knew it would.

CALLER: (Giggle) Well, I was pretty upset and even getting madder the more coverage I watched, and I was thinking, "Why am I not feeling so charitable, and I'm seeing all these bodies," and then I see this picture on the Internet that was sent to me, and it was them carrying a body along in Sri Lanka, it said Galle, G-a-l-l-e, Sri Lanka and they had a crowd of people watching and this guy in the middle is standing there looking at the body wearing an Osama bin Laden T-shirt.

RUSH: I saw that picture.

CALLER: And I thought, it just validated the way I felt and I thought these are the same people that were the cheerleaders on 9/11, and we're going to go rebuild their world for them.

RUSH: Yeah.

CALLER: Now, I love President Bush. I respect him. I voted for him, but when I saw him come out and I realized they were asking for more money --

RUSH: Yeah.

CALLER: -- I got even madder, and I thought, "I don't think we should be asked to give any more."

RUSH: Let me help you out with this as well, Chris. Let me tell you what the realities of the world are. We are a compassionate people. There is a disaster of Biblical proportions. In fact, in fact, this happened while I was on vacation, some reporter for the Washington Post was over there swimming with his brother. They live in a mountaintop or on an island. His brother owns an island. A Washington Post reporter's brother owns an island, and he was over there vacationing in one of these paradise-type resort areas on the island, and the tsunami came, and this guy was out swimming and he barely survived, got back to his brother's house which I don't think was harmed because it was high enough up. But he actually said that, "It looked like a scene out of the Bible." I said, "Whoa, what is this? A journalist acknowledged the Bible and saying a scene actually looked like something out of the Bible." I thought, "Well, isn't it interesting." The red state-blue state argument, the values argument simply gets swept aside because there's no other way to explain this but than it was Biblical in its proportion," and that's the point.

We see all these pictures. There is human suffering. We are Americans, and this is what we have always done, and we are always going to do it, and as I said at the top of the program, "It's a mistake to do this to try to buy their affection. It's a mistake to do this to try to buy their loyalty or their support. That probably will not happen. It hasn't helped with France. It hasn't helped with Germany," but that's not why we do it. Motivation is key in things like this, Chris. It really is. There's doing the right thing regardless of consequences and regardless of extraneous circumstances, and this is one of those things. These are human beings in need. There's nobody else that can do this, and we are going to do it. That is who we are, and we are not going to have strings attached to it, and we may in fact not be thanked, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't do it, because we're not doing it for that reason. We're not doing it for gratitude; we're not doing it for support. We're not doing it for love; we're not doing it for loyalty. You might say we're doing it for love. We're doing it because it's the right thing to do. That's who we are as a people. You don't have to give individually if you don't want to but there will not be a movement -- there may be a movement but it will have no life -- to dissuade people from donating. It's going to be just the opposite. Here is Ed in Stafford, Virginia. Welcome to the EIB Network. Hi.

CALLER: Yeah, Rush, I was just wondering why does the world seem to be able to respond to a natural disaster like this so quickly when the mad-made disaster in the Darfur which is probably going to cost two or three times as many lives is still unsolved?

RUSH: It's an interesting psychological question, is it not? I raised the same point in the last hour by pointing out that Saddam Hussein killed twice as many people as this tsunami has, maybe more. It happened over a period of years. Same thing in are Rwanda; same thing in Darfur in the Sudan. One is an act of God; one is an act of man. If you look at Hitler, well, we can look at Hitler in this case but let's take a look at Saddam because in both cases we have Islamic people who have been murdered, who have been destroyed, who have been wiped out and killed. In one instance was an act of man, Saddam Hussein. The United States moves in after the world fails to act for ten years. The United States moves in to save the remaining population and try to make the country right, give people there a chance, at a prosperous and free life, and we are condemned the world over for outstretching our bounds and making their business our business. It's none of our business. Who are we? The world would be better off with Saddam. Democrats in this country say the worst things about President Bush and their own country in the process, even though the same thing is being asked of us now after an act of God, the tsunami. Now if we don't act, we are horrible people if we don't, if President Bush doesn't act soon enough, if he doesn't say the right thing soon enough. Look at all the great things he said about the oppressed and killed people of Iraq, and it got scant attention but lots of criticism. I think the answer to it lies in just how screwed up liberals are, to tell you the truth.

CALLER: Okay.

RUSH: I mean, it's no more complicated than that.

CALLER: It's scary.

RUSH: It is really scary, and then if you want more irony, I'll give you more irony. This is indeed an act of God. Now, they may a say it's an act of nature, but insurance companies call this "an act of God," and by definition, it means it's not manmade, not man caused. So we're not going to have any responsibility for it. You lose your property in an act of God, tough toenails, unless you've paid us through the nose with premiums, then we might help you out -- and here you have the left throughout this past year, which has been condemning anything to do with God in our public discourse, our public life. We had all of these arguments over the holidays and Christmas about nativity scenes and the left really ramped up and tried to get as many Christmas trees, which is not even a Christmas symbol when you get down to it, taken out of public squares and out of schools and so forth, and yet an act of God comes and they want us right in there helping out, faster than they can whistle Dixie. The irony here or the contradictions that come from our friends on the left are breathtaking to behold, and I can't really explain to you why it is that the same people who will be reduced to tears over a natural disaster like a tsunami, have absolutely no compassion for people wiped out in a genocide by a government in Rwanda, in Sudan, or in Iraq, why there is no compassion from them. Well, there are explanations, and they involve politics and so forth, but it still, as I say, is a curiosity, sometimes breathtaking to behold.

RUSH: Vipoola in New Jersey on the Turnpike, welcome to the EIB Network. Hi.

CALLER: Yeah, Rush, hi. I wanted to answer the lady called earlier regarding to the guy is wearing a T-shirt. I don't know he was a dead guy or not. I'm from Sri Lanka. I've been listening to you for a long time. Sri Lanka is not a Muslim nation. Sri Lanka is 68% Singhalese people, that influence all the Catholics and the majority is Buddhist.

RUSH: Yes, yes.

CALLER: There are Muslims around that, you know, probably hate America, but we don't hate United States of America. The Singhalese people do not hate America. I just want to tell you that because we have our own problem for years with Tamil, and Muslim people. I just wanted to tell you that.

RUSH: That woman was calling from Pennsylvania, and there's picture going around the Internet, and I've seen it. Some aid is arriving while a body is being carted away, and there's a kid, a young man watching it all with a bin Laden t-shirt. She said the picture is from Sri Lanka. I don't know that it is. I don't know the picture is from Sri Lanka, but you have to understand the power of pictures. You know, there are going to be some Americans who are just going to recoil at the thought that we are bailing out and helping people who swear an oath of loyalty to Osama bin Laden, whether it's in Sri Lanka or not. I don't think her comment was actually aimed at Sri Lanka per se, specifically. It was just in reaction to that picture she saw. What are the Muslim nations that were affected by this tsunami, if not Sri Lanka?

CALLER: Indonesia is Muslim. Maldives is a Muslim nation. The part of India that hit, probably there are some Muslims.

RUSH: Right.

CALLER: But Sri Lanka's Muslim population is only 2%. But, it's the hardest hit area, south and northeast --

RUSH: Right.

CALLER: -- is Muslim area. The goal may be there is a lot of businesses that are owned by Muslims. There are Muslim people in that town, too. But if you look at the population of Sri Lanka, 68% is not Muslim, but there are dead people, 68% of them is not Muslim. Please. Your listeners, if you want to help, don't look at the Muslim thing and the other, because we are not people who hate America.

RUSH: That's why I say. Most people aren't looking at that. I mean, she was just -- there's just this one picture floating around there, may be more, I saw it, too. I think most people in this country are not oriented in that direction. Most people in this country may be asking is, "How much money are the oil-rich Saudi Arabian nations giving to this relief effort?" We don't hear about this. You know, how much are Muslim nations around the world who do have some wealth, how much are they contributing? We don't know. We're not being told. But certainly nobody is leaning on them, either. Nobody is demanding that they help out. The demands are being made of the United States, and people in this country, especially if they come from some twerp at the United Nations, are going to get their backs up about that. But please don't interpret this as anything against Sri Lanka or Sri Lankans. I don't think that's at all what the lady meant, and I certainly didn't when I was talk about that picture because I don't know where that picture is from. There are a lot of areas that are affected by the tsunami, this picture could have come from either one, and I didn't see a caption with it. You don't even know if the picture is legit with the way photography can be backed up. But I'm glad you called, Vipoola. I appreciate it.

P.S. It looks to me like that impertinent tool at the UN played Bush like a Stradivarius. Now Bush won't stop pushing the ante up.
======
It is a sad paradox, is it not? We are taking care of Muslims in terrorist strongholds, and playing one-upsmanship politics with it -- taxpayer money to Muslims -- I am also having a real hard struggle with this one too, as are many Americans. That being said, screw the U.N. and its criminal leader.

Let's add that the part of Thailand that got hit..the name escapes me...is the perversion capitol of the world. That's where the slavers go to buy children for the sex trade.

Huh? Which NGO did you get this load of crap from? There is no 'slavery' in this area. None. Zero. Sorry to break the news to you. This type of stuff does happen in the north in some areas along the northwest Thai/Burma border, but hardly in Pukhet. Thanks for playing.

"RUSH: It's an interesting psychological question, is it not? I raised the same point in the last hour by pointing out that Saddam Hussein killed twice as many people as this tsunami has, maybe more."

But then on the other hand, poor old Saddam hasn't killed anywhere near the 1.5 million babies we kill every year.

*** There is some speculation that the photo has been altered.***

I brought it into Photoshop and did some analysis (highpass, emboss for artifacts) and it looks like the real thing.

Umm,both Rush & a caller are wrong on one point, the vast majority of people who died in South India were Christian fishermen & their families & some Hindus-the number of Muslims were very limited.

The same website, paralumun.com, also talks about sexual slavery in the US. Moot point. Yes, it does happen, but it is not common at all. The girls working in bars are there by choice because they want to be. The laws concerning sex with minors in Thailand is very strict consisting of between 5 to 20 years in a Thai jail. A fate I wouldn't wish on anyone.

Thailand's Sex Industry

Is sexual tourism legitimate? The question is, of course, almost irrelevant. It exists. It has always existed. And the sex industry in Asia will continue to exist for the foreseeable future.
Nowhere else is it so open and prevalent. Manila, Bombay, Phuket - they have reputations -- reputations that are not undeserved. But even Amsterdam, with perhaps the most freewheeling redlight district in Europe, does not rival Bangkok because many of the rules and restrictions placed on clients in a European setting are not enforced in Asia.

Phuket is where the tsunami hit.

Patpong is one of three 'nightlife' areas in Bangkok. The other two are Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy. Patpong is mostly a tourist destination and is only still there because of its reputation. New Orleans has much more on display than Patpong.

Pattaya is a beach area about an hour south of Bangkok. It is truely the sin capital of the world.

Patong is one of the beaches in Phuket and was damaged by the tsunami.

There is something fishy about this whole picture. We may eventually spend $1 billion when you consider our military forces being used: a aircraft carrier here, a few ships there, and the costs begin to add up. Then outside of our government monies spent, you have private individuals who are digging deep into their pockets. All of this money is going out of country and not into our economy. DO WE HAVE A ECONOMIST DOCTOR IN THE HOUSE? I THINK WE ARE SPENDING OUTSELVES TO OUR PERIL.

If you ask me, our nation's security is also being impacted by this disaster. Will we have the economic flexibility if we had new crisis of the military kind? What if North Korea were to invade South Korea? What if China were to invade Taiwan? Such events would really cost us.
