The 'War Vote' Beat Me, Admits John Kerry
UK Telegraph ^ | 1/3/05 | Alec Russell in Washington

Posted on 01/03/2005 9:47:04 AM PST by gopwinsin04

US Senator John Kerry, the defeated Democratic presidental candidate, has blamed his failure to unseat President George W. Bush on the traditional advantage held by the president in wartime and his own failure to 'connect' with voters.

'Im not going to lick my wounds or hide under a rock and disappear. I'm going to learn,' Mr. Kerry told Newsweek magazine in his first interview since the November election.

He disputed descriptions of his oratory as 'soporific' but appeared close to acknowledging not connecting with voters.

'Ive had disappointments and I've learned to cope. I've lost friends, a marriage.' He then pointed out that no sitting president had ever been defeated during a war.

Mr. Kerry was careful avoid making any commitments about his future plans, but one former Kerry advisor told the magazine that he thinks that he is the front runner for the Democratic nomination in 2008.

The fact that your whole life has been a charade wasn't a factor?

Sure, John, it was all style. Your (lack of) reasonable substance had nothing to do with it.

How about the fact that millions of Americans were questioning the fake war record and post service communist activities that you tried to use to protray yourself as a hero.

I think you may be onto something.

Or the fact that he voted FOR the war. Kinda makes any criticism look like a booger.

Well gee, maybe you shouldn't have tried to run on unseating him because of the war then. Or maybe you could have at least made up your mind on where you stood on it.

he got the nomination because he was a trophy husband to an elderly rich woman.

He flipflopped because he recognized that there were not enough moonbats to actually run against the war and win.

He lost even after the mainstream media contributed their 15% because he was a bad candidate.

Yes, but that's based on substance. He's trying to say that the only reasons he lost are style and the times (that it's wartime)which he obviously can't control. He's not admitting he lost because his policies and history demonstrated that he would have been a terrible president (at any time but especially now.) He along with almost all Dems want to blame non-substantive things to avoid being actually wrong.

To paraphrase Groucho: "Well, Mr. Kerry, you've got a lot of style, and some day we'll find it. But right now, it's time to play 'You Bet Your Life.'"
